I must say, I'm in total agreement with Zaaku. The major appeal of XIV is it's grounded and realistic style, from the armor design to character animations. XIV nailed a visual style sweet spot, where things look functional and plausible, but also aesthetically interesting. Not ridiculous female bikini armor with frivolous spikes and glowing appendages, but also not plain and boring cloth and chainmail. It's a style that I hope they keep going into 2.0, and I'd lose a lot of interest in XIV if it loses that aspect

Anyway, to the point, I don't mind jumping if it's tasteful, but I have a feeling it's going to clash with the rest of the game's aesthetics. And since it will have no use mechanically, all adding a jump feature serves to do is harm the overall game

Perhaps I just really don't understand humans sometimes..

People fought for a feature and they got it.
Other people don't like said feature and are asking for an option to not see/use it.. Something that would not hurt or bother the first party.
BOTH groups would be happy.
But the group who got what they wanted has to come and bully the group who doesn't want.

"We have what we want~ We win~ You can't have what you want too! Or else we wouldn't be winners!"
"The Dev team is only allowed to spend time making US 'useless' features."
"Stop whining. All you do is complaaaain."
Going so far as saying people who merely dislike something are "raging" and "bitching.."

Why all the hate and immaturity?
Are there really more people who would rather fight and bully each other than compromise, work together, and be peaceful with each other? Is it not better to have everyone happy? Does that not make a better community?

I share your pain, I'll never fathom why people can't just be happy they got what they wanted or get to do what they want but will start a fight if someone else asks for something that at the end of the day the first group wouldn't even know whether or not it's being used.

There's no logical argument against this being toggleable(that's not a real word but hey), what's more is that virtually every thread takes this kind of tone. Group A asks for something, then group B not just voicing opinion in a friendly debate attacks the question, never considering how it will or won't impact them if the things asked for where to be brought into existence. Rarely providing any useful feedback just going on this super defensive that I often wonder if they even know what/why they are defending the thing or if it's just for the sake of ranting like rabid jackals attacking everything that isn't their own tail.

You guys are so busy arguing over something that would be for the individual player. It won't effect having your jump and you would be allowed to see it all you want.

With that said I would like to also say that I am NOT against the jumping but having the option to turn it on or off as I would like I am all for.

Dude... OP made a simple suggestion that wouldnt hurt the jump lovers and spammers, its simply for ppl that arent realy fond with, we can filter alot of stuff, why not jump?
