Really not sure how I feel about "Jump", I welcome new mechanics but at the same time don't want halo jumping all over Ul'dah. To be fair though people will abuse it right when they add it but seems like they will chill with it once its been around awhile. Just like /countdown I thought oh'gawd this is stupid because like 30 people doing it in Ifrit cave, but now I hardly ever see anyone do that. I do realize /countdown is lame for the most part in comparison to "jump" we'll just have to hope. As for "jump" I JUST hope it is implemented correctly and by that i mean different races should have slightly different animations for "jump", also It needs to look correct since this game focuses on looks and graphics it would be a shame to have a stupid looking "Skyrim jump"(as a good example).
As for people having the option to /toggle it on/off, no thanks if they take advantage of the new mechanic and add a purpose to do it in a dungeon or instance/fight like jumping over something blocking the path. I'd like to see that and it would look stupid to whoever turned it off seeing people slide up a ledge. I also agree it is a super waste of unnecessary resources to make an option as such. That's my imo, that is all.

From a GamerEscape article, "Yoshida tapped on the space bar and his male miqo’te jumped up (though due to the nature of the current version there wasn’t any animation for it. There are no plans for using the jump for any elements of gameplay it’s just there for those that want to jump. You won’t be able to jump to avoid Ifrit’s attacks or anything."As for people having the option to /toggle it on/off, no thanks if they take advantage of the new mechanic and add a purpose to do it in a dungeon or instance/fight like jumping over something blocking the path. I really don't see the issue in toggling a purely ascetic action, especially one that is controversial, and that essentially annoys a number of people. Yoshi has stated that it will serve no purpose, that it is purely a fan service feature because enough people asked for it. So for the people that don't like it let them toggle it, how does it effect you? [spacebar], go on, do it to your heart's content! [spacebar] /jumpaction off [spacebar] [spacebar]
I will be amused when Ul'dah ends up looking like someone put meth in the water.

See this is the problem with being resonable...we're expected to support a toggle feature for chocobo music, but it's a sin against all creation to want a jump toggle lol.I really don't see the issue in toggling a purely ascetic action, especially one that is controversial, and that essentially annoys a number of people. The level of intolerance in this game is absolutely amazing. As much as we all want to think we are a community of like minded gamers, we simply aren't.
Just like in the real world, there will be the people here, in this virtual world who are so unwilling to embrace something so small and simple such as.... jumping. They whine and complain to nearly no end that it doesn't belong in their world. Something that, when you think about it, has no real impact on them what so ever. Now that it is finally confirmed to be coming, the same people bitching and moaning want an option to hide it completely from their sight!
In the distant future, I think toggles might be the solution. World peace through toggles!
