It's probably not as simple as being able to craft using materials from your retainer.

Perhaps it's a material storage with split into tabs for each expansion.

I will be SO happy for this.

The quote only says "inventory management". Don't go assuming it means extra storage, or you're likely to be disappointed by the full answer.

The nicest crafting mats system I ran into was you just throwing everything into the bank without care, and when crafting the system just automatically took out what was needed for the recipe.

As long as the required mats were shoved in the bank you were fine. No need to sort your bank, nor search for x of y item and do the retainer shuffle.

It'll no doubt be something totally naff, but I can dream we got something so simple as one big storage area, detached from retainers, and auto-used as needed.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a miss quote and they meant materia and not material. It's also just a bs system right now too.

True. That comment wasn't from a slide, so it could be anything. Glamouring from retainers was on a slide, so they definitely got something big happening with interacting with that storage.
