I'm sure it's coming, cross region travel isn't working for technical reasons, not political ones.

That doesn't help Dynamis by having people leave to another DC for queues or prices. Just putting that out there. We need people to stay on DC to help our queues and get our marketboard moving. I fail to see your point. I understand that Materia doesn't have DC travel but at the end of the day, if people are leaving and not staying on Dynamis then it sounds like the same situation as Materia to me. Those who moved to Dynamis should be staying on Dynamis while outside DCs can come help pop or buy things to help us get set up.Building a new server may not be easy, but Dynamis has had it so much easier because people just DC travel if they can't queue for content or have high market board prices. All content is benefiting from people traveling to Dynamis as well. People looking for statics don't have to restrict themselves to Dynamis. All of that benefits the growth of Dynamis.
All advantages that Materia does not have because SE didn't do cross-region travel.
When our first round of housing ended, there were still thousands of houses available. It hasn't pulled people in droves the way you might think, as well.

It does because if they did not have the ability to leave Dynamis for pvp queues or better prices while it's growing, they would probably not stay on Dynamis at all.
My point is that people are going to Dynamis via DC travel as well. They go there for hunt trains and S ranks. By leaving Dynamis via DC travel for raiding, they can return to do everything else. Statics on Dynamis can be filled by people from other data centers. I've already seen this happening. We need people to stay on DC to help our queues and get our marketboard moving. In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

- First point: Why not stay and help grow the pvp scene here with others who also enjoy it? There are people who want pvp in Dynamis, just no one is taking the main lead on getting it organized. When we had one organized by Revival we had queues going. Just need someone to take the wheel on it consistently and lead rather than leave and basically make pvp never happen on Dynamis. It does because if they did not have the ability to leave Dynamis for pvp queues or better prices while it's growing, they would probably not stay on Dynamis at all.

- Second point: People coming and going for hunts doesn't help because they're not here to pop queues. Also, speaking as someone who was there on Day 1, we were running trains just fine with just the Dynamis crowd. Statics aren't my point here either because savage/ultimate only applies to a certain group of people. Daily roulette queues are something the majority uses and imo, if you moved to Dynamis you should be willing to be a part of helping the DC grow by doing your roulettes there (including frontline). If the people who are in Dynamis just dip to other places/put convenience as a priority..then how is that helping grow the DC by its own residents? Outside help is awesome but the people who moved there should be sticking around and helping. Otherwise it's literally just going to become a DC meant for housing and that's it.

Because it doesn't benefit them to wait an hour for it. It takes time for the overall population to grow as sprouts make new characters and become veterans themselves who might queue for pvp and while that happens they can visit another DC instead of completely transferring away from Dynamis permanently. One way or another, I've seen people from Dynamis in pvp matches.
It does help because it means there are more people to kill them faster, which when I went there, it looked like this was helping because they were taking a lot longer to die than on other data centers. This is one of the things that helps prevent it from feeling dead and preventing Materia from feeling dead seems like it would be desirable.People coming and going for hunts doesn't help because they're not here to pop queues.

Speaking as someone who was part of organizing and running those day 1 trains with one of the characters I transferred to Dynamis, I don't think you know how much assistance we were getting from Travelers. They weren't a big presence but they were (and still are) there when it comes to hunts. They're less active with train organization now but they've been a big help with S rank spawns since a lot of us are splitting time with setting up our new houses.
You are correct, though, when saying most of those coming for the hunts aren't also filling the duty queues. The number of Travelers in attendance most of the time is not really helping those kills go all that much faster. But that will change over time as both the world populations fill out with more higher level characters and players in general become more used to using Data Center Travel to do things with friends.
God. I wish Materia had community support and housing when it opened. It would have made a world of difference in helping the community get started. We were shafted from the beginning.Speaking as someone who was part of organizing and running those day 1 trains with one of the characters I transferred to Dynamis, I don't think you know how much assistance we were getting from Travelers. Feels bad man.
Yeah, I think by this point, we can say that Materia is effectively dead in the waters and only cross DC travel can help alleviate the situation.
With the addition of new housing wards in 6.3, there's not much point in coming over to Materia to get one which is what I did with my alt. I can foresee even more players leaving Materia and what will be left is just the core Oceania population, which is not sufficient to sustain player activity across 5 servers.
Sorry folks, the Oceania dream is dead![]()
Exactly. The fact that more private house wards are coming out gives the Materia players an opportunity to go back and try to buy a house over there in a more active data center. More people are going to be leaving the bloody center because it would be a missed opportunity not to go back. I was originally meant to come back to Elemental during 6.4, but it's changed to right before 6.3 hits for an opportunity to grab a small plot. A good business decision for all other data centers for more player retention, a bad business decision for Materia, because everyone is given the chance to yeet out of here without making too much of a major loss.
The only thing that has stopped me from moving my one character that has a house off of Materia is that I don't have the 18 bucks for the move right now.
