That is the difference. I will gladly play this DD anyway because we play from 81-90 level and i enjoy way more and hopefully there are some fun rewards behind it
This!! I'm excited to see what they add, because the magicite shards in HoH were a lot of fun. If they take the fun stuff from HoH (the magicite, the big open floors, new pomanders) and give us something new mechanic-wise, even if it's just something simple, I'll be excited over the gameplay aspect and I'll still enjoy the content. I enjoy the DDs because they give me a challenge that I want to overcome and this will be no different. Like, I'm going to have to wait til around March for it to come out, but... it'll be a nice birthday present since it'll come out likely around my birthday lol. Bummed about the story, but I don't hate it. I'll just like it less than other things which isn't really the end of the world, but I'm happy for the people who enjoy Allag stuff that they get some more good food. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised with the story, who knows, but until then I'll be kind of ehhh on the concept of the story, excited for the gameplay aspect.

You talk about Magicite... I doubt we'd be summoning any Eikon, but does this mean we can finally summon mechas?

    ...

Imagine using the Astragalos-style mechas to wreak havoc on the Deep Dungeon floor. Mega Beam go brr.

Considering it's a PvP mount, I expect the person summoning it to be sitting on top of it and twirling as it goes ham on enemies!

I mean in HoH we can summon the three vanilla ARR primals and Odin, so...

But gobbie mechs would be a lot of fun hahah. In the middle of a Gloom floor, no Serenity poms... welp, to heck with this, GOBBIE BOOM would be nothing but chaos and I would love every second of it.

Not sure why this surprises anyone Allag pretty much ruled the entire planet during their reign & left ruins in corners of every part of it. One of possible next places we're going is Meracydia & that's literally just Allagan ruins & Tribes, from lore point you'll be hard pressed find a place Allag has not been apart of.

A system error occurred during event movement.

There are two main issues from my personal opinion with that statement.

1 - Allagans were everywhere, yes. But they only focus on one singular period, and worse still, two sequences of events: their brutal expansionism and their downfall. We know next to nothing about how they lived in their society, we don't know of any other major event, nada. Not even the survivors who could keep records of their neighbours say anything other than "They came, they tried to conquer, they failed". Bozja stops at "we kicked their arses, we barely survived their calamity and we worked with their tech". And HoH stops at "Big earthquake avoided."

While it's to be expected that an ancient civilization doesn't have much for us to know about in terms of long-lasting events that don't have such a grandiose scale, the Allagans were pretty good record keepers and much of their technology was recovered nearly unscathed. Because of this, some people are like "Yes, we get it, did they do nothing but be giga-brained until the earth got screwed over?"

2 - Though #1 plays a part on the following, it also might not. But another factor is that despite the Allagans having been "everywhere" (give or take a few places), other civilizations also came and went. The one we default to the most are Allagans, and people either want something fresh done with the Allagans, or let the local cultures have a bit more relevant background to their current cultures. Kinda like how POTD explores a particular tunnel of Gelmorra, the precursor to Gridania.

And while it's true that Meracydia is a place that the Allagans are more famous for, it doesn't have to be necessarily so for every other place we visit. Even if we do find something in the vicinity, it could be apocryphal and allow room for the local places to have more depth. Yet Allag is insisted on quite often despite there not being new material for it.

    Still.

To not be constantly souring the mood on this one, a Deep Dive could also expand upon the Allagans a bit more to give them a different look than just "Conquer, Conquer, Calamity". Especially if Meracydia is a potential next area to explore.

I'd say a good difference between Allag and Garlemald is that while we know so much about Garlemald being aggressively expansionist as well, us being able to interact with the Legions and see their philosophies helps give Garlemald nuance and understand different factions\different takes on the same expansionist event. Ala Mhigo is different from Bozja, as Bozja is different from Terncliff.

I'm intrigued. As others have pointed out, yes, the Allagans have come up a lot. But what have we really learned about them? What have we learned about their society, or how they came to have such massive influence? That's what I would be hoping for in this sort of content. Maybe we'll find out something surprising about them.

Think I might replay III before this so things will be fresh in my mind, too, and I can pick up on any easter eggs.

Off the top of my head, we know the Allagans were a technologically-advanced civilization started by Xande under the machinations of Emet Selch. Xande died and a century later they found Omega, learning from him ways to combat Primals. This led to the creation of Proto-Ultima and the Ultima Weapon which are later excavated by the Garleans. Their society grew to become pioneers in technology and bioengineering, often using Primals and other beings with dense aether like Elder Dragons as power sources (Warring Triad and Bahamut). From there, they began expanding everywhere, attacking locations such as Meracydia, from which they obtained the Warring Triad and sealed them in their Aetherochemical Research Facility at Azys Lla, where the Ixal were created. As well as attempting to invade Bozja, but were thwarted when the Hrothgar developped the Gunblade to defend themselves from Allagan guns.

However, their technological phase started declining until Amon revived Xande to lead them back to prosperity. Amon cloned Doga and Unei, Xande's descendents as well. Xande, however, came out of the Lifestream dissatisfied and with a grim outlook on life. He became obssessed with the Void. Xande had the Crystal Tower constructed as a gateway to the void, sealing Bahamut inside Dalamud, the Crystal Tower's powersource from outer space. To launch Dalamud, they went to the conquered lands around Yanxia and placed a device in the Azim Steppe to collect all the surrounding aether and use it to propel Dalamud into orbit. Them stripping aether off of the land created the Burn. Around this time, they also managed to send an aircraft to explore the natural moon but it crashed in Mare Lamentorum. His obssession with the Void also led to the creation of several different technological artifacts to harness the power of Voidsent, including the Diablo Armament meant to harness Diabolos (as stated in the Fractal Continuum dungeon).

Using Dalamud's power proved costly, however, as the power surged into the Crystal Tower and spread around the earth. Desch and Salina were two Allagans who fled to the opposite end of the continent in the Ruby Sea and created Heaven-on-High as a counterbalance to the Crystal Tower. HoH shielded Othard from the impact of the surge and the incoming calamity. The Fourth Calamity struck when the Third shard rejoined the Source, causing a massive world-wide earthquake that swallowed the entirety of the empire and its environs. Bozja also suffered from the impact, which caused the land of Zadnor to be completely wiped. Even though Gunnhildr used Save the Queen to shield Bozja as a Primal, the population would still suffer and strife for the following years.

Other than that, we assume they worshipped celestial bodies, as they have several structures dedicated to the sun and stars (Royal Sunway, Royal Starway)... and while this may be minor, they do have a church with a weirdly-stylized version of Azeyma's symbol in Azys Lla. Descendents of the royal family still endure and are known for their distinctly saturated red irises. I can't remember anything else.

Edit: Oh, and we also know they had Summoners according to the Summoner Questline, which used Eikons a little differently than we do. But the principles were similar.

Again that wasn't an aircraft to go check out the natural moon that after Elpis I'm not sure wasn't some kind of creation. It was a satellite to help keep tabs on Dalamud. Please do your Sight Seeing logs. And are you having a mental oops with saying Bahamut was the one trapped in the Void? The church in Azys Lla is Meracydian as even though it has Azeyma symbols on it at the time of capture it was being used by worshipers of Sephirot. The royal family's blood is actually running thin. It's why G'Raha starts only with one Allagan eye.
