If this is the only thing that interests you in this thread then suit yourself, the discord chat logs are mine but the ingame chat logs aren't since I had closed my game and lost chat logs
I'm just pointing out a tos violation in a thread complaining about someone else doing a dick move, but not actually violating anything.
If there were no agreed upon loot distributions before the fight started, the weapon is theirs even if they do a dick move and delete the one they already have.
I'm not saying they are a good person, but they didn't violate any rules.
One time in Orbonne, the casting coat dropped and this ranged dude in our party started begging for it. I was on my caster at the time, but I already had it so I just passed on it. This other guy in our group, a RDM, was like "bro that thing ugly af" and then he rolled need anyway and basically told the ranged guy that he was probably gonna turn it into grand company seals or desynth it. Totally fair, but still a dick move lol. Like, to this day I think about that. Why even tell him that. At least just pretend that you like the coat, lol. Or don't say anything when you roll.
idk, I don't get these kinds of people. Also feels like a slap in the face that these people can be open assholes but if I ask the two tanks what the HELL they're doing and why I have aggro as a red mage, I'll get reported for being toxic
lmao @ people doubting that someone could be a petty asshole in ff14 and then op just comes in with immediate receipts. unfathomably based
Is there a way to edit? Also I’m surprised this even works. Loot eligibility is determined when the chest is opened why would deleting and item suddenly let you roll? Seems like bad programming.
The game only checks if you have it on yourself, inventory or armory, if you put the weapon in a chocobo saddlebag which isn't accessible from inside a raid, u can get two copies of it.
So yes, deleting an item is a bypass since the game only checks it if you have it on yourself, if you don't anymore you can roll it
I respect your opinion, if toxicity is a choice and you embrace it the way it is then sure have fun. It just points out that savage loot system needs a change if you guys think it's not a "rules" issue and since the random weapon is now useless, because everyone can delete->roll->equip might as well chance it.Any person is free to do whatever they want with an item in their inventory. It's really none of your business if someone throws out their weapon. They did not "delete a piece of loot from the raid". Just one from their inventory.
And there is also absolutely nothing wrong about using need/greed system the way it is designed. If you play the job that can use an item - you can need on it. This works perfectly fine.
Just your usual pf experience. Make toxic behavior a normal thing. But after checking I can see you're playing in a static, so you can't really understand the pf struggle I guess
That's the point of the whole thread, "everyone" agrees this is a scumbag move and that it shouldn't be a thing, so a rule need to be added or loot system needs to be changed.
Like I said earlier, it takes up to 2 months from doing just pf to get 1 weapon, if everyone decided to do it but they deem it fun, it just makes the random weapon loot from coffers pointless.

You misunderstand. Why is the game still checking if you are eligible after it’s open? Deleting his weapon should not change anything. What SHOULD have happened here is the game determined he couldn’t roll on it, he deleted his weapon, and the game still says he can’t roll on it because he wasn’t eligible when the roll started.
This is the biggest reason I doubt you because it seems silly that the game is even still checking at that point.
Because the only reason that prevents him from rolling is a technicality. You can't have two unique items in your inventory and this prevents you from rolling. Obviously if you remove the one in your inventory, you are free to roll. Game doesn't check someones' eligibility for loot outside of instance lockouts. You misunderstand. I agree with you, it's a flaw in game design. You misunderstand. Why is the game still checking if you are eligible after it’s open? Deleting his weapon should not change anything. Go in a extreme raid unsync as any job (lv50), get a coffer and open it, then try to roll a random weapon (you will have to do multiple kills until u get the same weapon) and try for yourself, you will see that the game only checks when you click on the "need/greed" button, same goes for every item in the game tbh, I don't think u can get 2 coffers even in old extremes so u can try with just that
I desynth stuff mid dungeon all the time if I can Need roll on it and I already have it, but like, you can't desynth ILVL 635 gear so this guy is 100% a [Word that goes against the ToS of Final Fantasy XIV]
He is probably a P*rser who wants to gatekeep his pinball Highscore like a real mature adult.
