    Black mage PvP Tactics

So, I always liked the PvP if FF. I really enjoy Frontlines and Crystal conflict, even with its flaws, is fun to play (I never have been able to actually find a Rival wings game, but i hear it is also good).

But i kind of suck at PvP, so I google the rotations and learn better ways to use my skills (I even got a macro that doesnt work). My problem is that even if know I know what im doing I still cant get "Knockouts", I got plenty of assists tho, but I cant finish the job.

Can you guys give me some tactics or tips for noob black mage PvP player? My tactics so far are just throw fire to the enemies in a somewhat "safe" distance, with superflare and paradox when I got enough stacks or if the situation ask for it. If there is an enemy alone I use Aetherial manipulation and burst on him. And if there are too many enemies, and I got my Limit break bar full, I use it spamming fire.

Should work more in my positioning? Or focus on only one enemy instead of the whole team?

    Thanks,

Most of the time you want to use ice over fire. Fire is really good for bursting down groups at the end of you LB window but mostly lack luster outside of it.
Use your instant cast as much as you can get away with and burst for finishers is great, but don't get overly confident and charge a group for a single kb.
You get a buff from hard casting one school that makes the other instant cast. This can also be used as a faux execute. Timing this to get the aoe version is even better if the enemy is grouped up.
Try to use sleep as much as you can when you see a teammate in need or need to make space just remember it has a delay so you can usually pop off one more spell if you have the breathing room to do so.
That's pretty much basic stuff for BLM at the moment.

Fire and Ice do exactly the same damage outside of fire having a dot tied to it, so the only time fire is really worth using is during your limit break and that's just to get a dot on them for the extra damage usually after you have forced half the team to pop purify because you mass stunned them with ice. Outside of that you'll want to use ice most of the time because stun/roots > a dot. If there's only like 2 people left alive then ya throw fire on them and get the dot to help burn them down, but generally speaking you'll always want to use ice to control the flow of the match + its easier to get knockouts from burst when the enemy is stunned and cant run away from your or pop a recup lol.

Most of my executes come from burst, so you have the general idea right of what you're doing there. Just comes down to timing. Find someone who's getting focused or at like half HP and hit them with Ice >Paradox > superflare > Aether Manip > burst. You'll usually get the finishing blow with burst and then immediately retreat while you have barrier from burst protecting you.

Keeping our distance and knowing when to jump in for a kill or when to disengage and stay alive is key to the core skill you need with BLM. When you're not looking to finish someone off you'll be spending your time CCing the enemy team and just in general being annoying, but again, knowing when to disengage is extremely important. Staying alive and not getting into outnumbered fights is key because disengaging in staying alive is better and more impactful to helping the team than it is to pointlessly dying and staggering respawn times making it harder to re-engage.

In frontlines you'll want to use fire over ice. The CC from Ice doesn't rack up fast enough. If your team is killing them then you dont have time to freeze them, but if they are running away you rarely get the chase to rack up 3 stacks to hold them and they usually have purify ready. With fire, DoTs can tick away at HP and they can do nothing about it. Even 1 stack is 2 ticks of your DoT. And if they are running away, even if they get away at low HP, the tick will kill them.

Oh ya in frontlines just go ham with fire, but I personally don't go into frontlines with blm. It just doesn't really have the killing power for that mess of a mode.

Must depend on server group. On primal you just sit in the clump and rake in the KB while they try to figure out where you are.

Ya I guess during LB you can manage to pick someone off randomly from the aoe spam and BLM LB builds pretty fast in frontlines.

Nah, you don't need any of that other stuff.
You see, the smart play would be to to floortank for a round or two, then send in video evidence to YoshiP's personal email, and the devs will issue an emergency patch to buff your overall potency by 300% and add 10 seconds of invincibility to your LB.

Ice has much more value, because you CC many ppl, you get those who burn their cooldown to remove your ice CC, and they are vulnerable to your allies CC & burst.
