The Target Type 2 Cone (For Tab Targeting) - Mystery Solved

The mystery of the targeting "cone" for tab targeting has been solved!
    https://youtu.be/QzAVC-DNyEA

Simply, the "cone" is the camera cone you see in the mini map.
Any target within that cone will be selected via Tab or Shift+Tab (default settings)

The two targeting types for tab targeting were added in Patch 4.1 on Oct 9, 2017.
    Patch 4.1 Notes (Full Release)
Originally, the settings were described as such:
    Code:
    Target Type
    Type 1 (standard)
Targets enemy closest to the player without considering depth in terms of the camera position.
    Type 2 (new)
Targets enemies based on a cone shape originating from the position of the camera.

Its still bad, because the target in the cone is selected randomly and not by distance.
When you have multiple targets inside the cone it often gives you an enemy far in the back you can't even reach instead of somethign right infront of you.

I was actually going to reply in a different topic about how tab targeting cycles, but since you mentioned selecting is not by distance. You are correct.
It does not function like the game describes.

Tab or Shift+Tab will always select the nearest target first. However, the next press of Tab or Shift+Tab WILL NOT cycle nearest to farthest or farthest to nearest.
Tab moves the Target Marker to the next target on the right.
Shift+Tab moves the Target Marker to the next target on the left.

    To demonstrate:
    Tab Targeting (58 seconds)

How Tab Targeting Cycles (41 seconds)

    Note:
I have Type 1: Ignore Depth set (so the cone on the mini map is ignored)

If you are trying to attack something right in front of you, you should be using the Target Nearest Enemy keybind, not tab targeting.

that doesnt work if you already have a target.

Oh man , yeah that is exactly what i mean, that is so confusing when it switches right and then to the far left target, especialy in PvP i find it impossible to get the target iw ant because there is so much movement involved.
