Make new gear drop into your regular inventory, keep gear you want to keep in the armoury chest. Then filter out gear in your armoury chest when you turn in gear pieces.

Thanks,thats good workaround tbh, never thought of that but i still believe having a lock and leave it function will be better for keeping items safe in general.
