Constant Vulgarity in Public Chat. WHY is this allowed?

I'm trying to remember if I've seen anything vulgar... And I can't. Nightclubs =/= ERP. It means dancing and drinking, which, yeah irl can lead to going home with someone, but more often, it means hanging out and having a good time with friends, which is what probably happens 90% of the time in Nightclub venues.

Nightclubs =/= RP or ERP. It's clubbing, or at the very least letting your braincells rot watching some random pretend to be a DJ while getting exploited by the staff at the same time.

There's a lot that would have to be changed for me to believe that it's any form of roleplay lol. As of right now all I see is a business where "an RP experience" is used to squeeze money out of patrons.

It's *technically* RP when the staff assume the role of a staff member and play as that character... but in the venues I've visited, that's a very small percent of the interactions going on.

Maybe I'm just spoiled coming from D&D, I dunno.

They're getting paid, it's a job. AFAIK, roleplay isn't supposed to come with financial gain.

Yeah actually some people do get paid to play DnD. People will actually pay for really good and established DMs.

You're not. That's how I expected roleplaying to go, and how I figured it was based on seeing peoples' profiles on the RP wiki back in 2017.
The issue is that venues nowadays just don't bother doing that, and it feels like if you want any of it, you need to go on Balmung. It's already hard to do that as it is because it's constantly congested. It's even worse if you're from another Datacenter, bc then you need an alt to visit x,x

Yes. Sometimes. I got paid at the venue I worked at and it was the traditional roleplaying thing. We did have background music on but it was soft jazz to set the mood. People still had to interact with us to get anything out of it. Not everyone wanted to, and that was fine, we left them to sit and take in the scenery. But the whole point of it was to interact and specifically engage with the staff and the lore they prepared for you.
At the end of the day, they still paid for drinks and food, and we'd get a cut.

Now, if you want to strictly speaking only restrict it to DnD itself? I'd say it depends? If my character wanted to work at a bar, they'd be paid. Obviously not the player, but FF14 and DnD aren't the same. Only the interactions during roleplaying are similar. Meaning yes, you can get paid on both, the application is just different.

Ok, I didn't know about Balmung being THAT server when I joined but I leave for Seraph as soon as it was allowed and boom... here they are again, absolutely disgusting ads and ceaseless spam about adult topics and if you say a word against it YOU are the one with an account warning.

I love this game but I do not understand why this filth has to be in public channels ALL THE TIME.

Is there a server that has people focused on the game and not brothels and constantly putting down anybody who is not into that?

I know I can just turn off public chat but if I wanted to play a game alone I would not be on a MMO. I have played a LOT of MMOs and by FAR the worst about this is FF.

You must make a great customer service representative.

I don't really see any issue myself with those adds. What I do find annoying is when somebody decides to spam it every 5 seconds.

It would be nice if SE would finally update the dated 90's chat system in this game and allow us to create extra tabs but also add something like a LFM (Looking For More) for RP activities, and also dedicated recruitment channels for statics, FC's, RP stuff, etc.
And have it accessible from wherever you are in the game world.

greatly increasing the blacklist size limit would be good as well.

actually, just fixing the blacklist in general would be nice. pretty sure you still can't add people to it unless you do it from the chat log. so nice of world visit to break that function.
