I don't really care for the giant zerg fest A and S ranks are, and waiting more than a minute or two for ARR/HW S ranks is nonsense. Sitting around waiting for the entire data center to show up for something that dies in less than 10 seconds is deranged.
The only reason it dies in 10 seconds is because a large part of the data center was able to show up.

Try doing it off peak when you're lucky to have 40 show up and a recent expansion S rank will take much longer.

Where should the middle ground be? You'll get a lot of different opinions depending on who you talk to.

Maybe what needs to happen is for the game to stop letting more people teleport into the zone if a S rank is present and zone population has reach as certain number (100? 150?). That way it's out of player hands and in SE's control. It would also send the message that not everyone is intended to participate. Once the zone is full, no reason to hold off any longer and the zone can be cleared for players trying to do other things.
