What sort of character would you like to see added to the WoL’s party?

Thinking back on the myriad characters that have accompanied us at some point on our journey, I can’t help shaking the idea that most of them are of the same mold. Level-headed, measured, righteous, logic. Basically, they're all lawful good. They all have small quirks, but you wouldn’t be able to call those "true personality traits".

Off the top of my head, the only ones that managed to pop their heads outside that mold are Gosetsu with his immense charisma, Moenbryda with her jolly assertiveness and Zero with her apathetic personality.

My biggest wish for the MSQ is for a chaotic-good character to be added to our WoL’s party. Someone who doesn’t think like the logic-bound Scions and often leans towards cutting through tedious diplomatic red-tape. Bellicose, larger than life, morally ambiguous and with a tendency to mess with people. Someone to spice up our group’s dynamic which feels incredibly stale to me at the moment. It would definitely open up tons of opportunities for spontaneous or funny situations and banter. Sadu is a great example of the sort of character I’m talking about. Bonus if they could be a different race than Elezen, Miqo'te, Hyur or Lalafell.

    - People who bring a more chaotic energy to the party than just "quirky" or "funnily violent"
    - A person with actual trauma that we can help overcome without reducing them to flanderization. There's bound to be someone in the places invaded by Garleans.
    - Alternative, if that's too spicy, someone whose past actions have led to them being disgraced and them working hard to either fix it or prove themselves
    - Someone like Zero who brings in a different outlook on life and the way we treat certain conducts for granted
    - Someone with vices. Doesn't even need to be something negative like drugs or alcohol, let's keep this kid-friendly. Overcompensation and indulgence are two different ways to express this.
    - An otherwise evil character that joins us and is slowly reformed, or at least works toward a benevolent goal.

People can still be good and be morally just. They don't always need to be the obvious goodie two-shoes. Moral ambiguity is inexistant in the Scions, and their flaws have long since been ironed out or excused. Take my third one. That's just Alphinaud in Heavensward. But from the latter half of Stormblood onward, his morality and methods have long been proven to have matured. Or take Urianger. His moment with the Loporrits really only served to show that his quirkiness and ability to understand alien points of view is a boon rather than having us hear it. Past that, he doesn't exactly have much else to go with.

Someone who is more morally ambiguous than the scions.
Maybe a greedy mercenary ? A character that is mostly acting in his own interest but have common goals with our group.

Ideally it would be someone who would create conflict in the group because of their divergence of opinion/ideals.

I want the character to have to grow but start flawed. Don't make them like the scions that are good from the start.

    Gosetsu and Fordola.

While Gosetsu wants to eventually come back to serve at Hien's side, I have a feeling Hien' gonna want Gosetsu to live his life freely. Gosetsu dedicated already one lifetime as a Samurai to him, so naybe he'll have Gosetsu tried to dedicate his life to something now. Him joining the WoL on their adventures would be a nice way for Gosetsu to start something new with himself and find a new purpose.

And with Fordola, since Arenvald is out of the picture for the forseeable future as an active former Scion, and with how the Endwalker healer quest turned out, I think its safe to assume Fordola will eventually be allowed to travel freely outside of Ala Mhigo and possibly find something worthy to dedicate her life to other than help rebuild Ala Mhigo. Raubahn and Arenvald would probably want her ti find something new to do with her life since they amd Lyse seem to have everything handled in Ala Mhigo. So it would be the perfect opportunity for her to travel with us and find new purpose in helping others as both an adventurer and new Scion.

Plus, as of right now. Gosetsu is a healer, while Fordola is a tank. G'raha had been filling both roles, plus dps as an All Rounder because of the Scion's lack in an extra tank and healer. So this would open up an opportunity to fill in both roles with two already, story wise established and well known characters that aren't Sharlayn, like Estinien.

Besides Zero, which is the obvious pick and I'd like to have?

    Gaius and Allie.

Your description reminds me of early Estinien who, instead of being driven by money, was driven by vengeance. Now he's just a goody-two-shoes with the quirk of being bad with money. Makes me sad.

Yeah the way they took his character in Endwalker and the post patches is really disappointing. It's like he got infected by the same virus Alphinaud has and now he's another idealogue.

Yeah i can see that. He's also the "dragon" guy that only have something to say if a dragon is involved.
He needs a new goal ASAP before it gets boring.

My description was inspired by Estinien dynamics with Ysayle and Alphinaud in Heavensward. And by the hostility between Emet and the group (mostly Thancred).
    We need more of this.

FFXII had a group with people that felt varied both in origins and opinions, i want more of that instead of people who always agree together.

I really want to see this again in this game as well. It's insane how some people defended the state of the Scions by saying stuff like "disagreements and arguments would be distracting from the main plot" and god knows whatever else so they could keep their comfort characters on screen regardless of how little value they were contributing.

I'll gladly take a party that butts heads with each other anyday over one that doesn't.
