Doesn't pop until 5-6 pm PST on Aether (Crystal/Diamond/Plat) and when it does, it's usually just the one game that is not very competitive.
Ranked PVP has been a failed experiment. You can generate "some" artificial interest by giving new better rewards, but I just don't see people liking the mode. Maybe some of you did at first, I don't know, but the feedback I see now from the community is very negative. Even the Twitter post from the NA team announcing Season 4 was all negative comments and barely any likes.
To keep a ranked season active for 2 months, you need the "hardcore" player base that plays almost every night. Not the one person playing a game here and there to level their battle pass. And those people are gone. I'm not sure they'll be coming back with better rewards, but it wouldn't hurt.
Season 1 and a little bit of Season 2 were an anomaly because it came at a time when there was not much going on and it was fresh with a bunch of new rewards to get. That level of activity was never going to be sustainable.

Mode itself is decently fun, but the lack of full spectrum of skill levels makes it frustrating experience to most. There's not enough to keep people interested over longer times so mostly the very lowest and highest remain, because at low ranks you can get more balanced games than in Casual and at highest you get some level of competition. Issue is, the moment the low ranks learn or advance they enter limbo where there's not enough players to get matches to progress and at highest end you will have the handful of people with few thousand matches and if you aren't one of them your games get pretty miserable fast.
They should have just made one Queue that allows people to play with at least 1 or 2 friends and have hidden rating until you get to some breakpoint like top 500.
They should hold preseasons instead of spam the playerbase with a new season over and over again![]()
You know what made it worse? De-ranking….Doesn't pop until 5-6 pm PST on Aether (Crystal/Diamond/Plat) and when it does, it's usually just the one game that is not very competitive.

I know you really seem to cling to the idea that you were right about de-ranking killing ranked queues. That is not the case. Pretty much everyone that competes for Top 100 is quite happy about those changes. You'd be hard-pressed to find a Crystal gamer from S3 that didn't think it was a good idea.
There is such a difference in skill between Crystal games and Diamond/Plat players. With that "dynamic" matchmaking that came at the same time, if you were Plat 1 and up, you'd pretty much be guaranteed to be in Crystal games anyway. So, that de-ranking that was supposed to make games competitive never did that. It barely had any impact on who plays with who. Crystal 0s just had a new rank, but were never gone from high-rank games.
Unless you think the very few people stuck in Plat 4 to 2, who could not get win streaks going long enough to go back up to Diamond and who got discouraged would have been the saviors of the Crystal rank queues ? I guess we'll never know.
The ranked player base is just too small and it looks like it got a lot smaller. Maybe even smaller than it's even been.

Season 2 was a disappointment simply because of how short it was. Here it is next season, and it's only lasting for one patch. Not worth participating this season. May as well make it a preseason if the season is going to be this short in the future.
If a lot of people are complaining about deranking I dont think we deserve a rank mode
I know, just messing with ya, but that just one of the reasons. I know it was a going to be a quick decline on the content because it just reminds me of other competitive games in the market so it felt no different. The only ppl doing high tier ranking is going to be very niche in the long term, the dev team will have to concede on that fact and just add more gimmick content into casual. I don't think the rewards is going to bring ppl back into playing ranked even if they were to spruce up the plates for one. Also the mounts or gearsets won't be enough if you only just 1 of either in 1 series. If they were to add more mounts or gearsets into the "mission pass" exclusively to ranked match it won't entice ppl to play ranked more.I know you really seem to cling to the idea that you were right about de-ranking killing ranked queues. I really don't have any solutions for them to bring ppl back into rank other than giving players an option to party up and que instead of straight solo que. That might(?) restore the ques(?)....maybe?
They need to update the Series pass/crystal trophy shop because heres a news flash for you all...... people play ranked to grind out the series pass because its ... wait for it... FASTER then playing frontlines!I know, just messing with ya, but that just one of the reasons. Passive aggressiveness directed at SE aside, I guarantee you if they just focus on keeping the Series BP/crystal shop up to date alongside the season you will all see ranked jump in population.
