Discussion and Possible Action to Address Adventurers Repeating FATEs for Exp

Are regulatory changes needed to FATEs to address adventurers earning EXP for repeated FATE courses? It is an observation that adventurers, like my adventurer, are required to earn EXP to raise their job's level, which often includes the same FATE repeatedly taken to meet the EXP requirement for the job level advancement.

Should there be a determination for the frequency and period of time allowable for a FATE to be repeated for EXP and how that would apply for an adventurer who is situated in MSQ 2.x-3.x versus an adventurer who is situated in MSQ 4.x-MSQ current?

Can an audit be conducted to see how often this repeating scenario is seen in a standard membership cycle? What is the variety of FATEs a typical adventurer takes on or repeates in a given cycle or multiple cycles of membership?

Should a limit be placed on how many times a FATE can be repeated in a given cycle? And if that limit is reached, then that FATE becomes inactivated until a new cycle begins? Also, in the case the adventurer reaches the limit of available FATEs, can new FATEs be introduced (especially in 2.x and 3.x map areas) to maintain variety and availability of the adventurer who exclusively participates FATEs instead of dungeons?

    Thank you.

In addition to new FATEs be introduced (especially in 2.x and 3.x map areas), another suggestion would be simply to remix the FATEs that already exist on those maps. I.E. Svara's Fall in Coerthas Central Highlands - can there be a different episode for Svara? How can Svara's FATEs be readdressed or remixed? Was Svara the only boss dragon that existed at Coerthas Central Highlands?

I don’t think that running FATEs to level is as common as you are suggesting. Personally, I might have done a couple of fates to get my jobs to level 15 but after that I basically haven’t done any.

I also think that SE going back to old zones to add new FATEs or remix old FATEs would be very unlikely.

It's not common at all. FATEs are basically forgotten about by SE and I think they only add them into new expansions out of tradition. They'll spend countless hours for useless shit like adventure plates and islands but god forbid they make FATEs actually useful for leveling.

They are useful for leveling once you're past ARR and especially once into Stormblood, where the Forlorn Maiden for XP bonus got introduced. They're just unlikely to ever be the most efficient way to level with all the leveling options we currently have. Which is just as well - make them too efficient and the zones would become packed, making it awkward for players trying to enter the zones to do other things. We've seen that happen when FATEs in older zones were being farmed for relics.

Use them to level or not as you wish.

Not to be a back in my day kinda person but in ARR northern thanalan was the place to be grinding out ~40-50 for alt jobs. That said I agree that it is a system that needs a reworke. I'm not saying increase the exp given but maybe add more incentives like minions and glamour items to them. The Gemstones do that but i feel that a lot of people forget about them, I know i dont have all the shared fate things maxed out. The world bosses are fun and challenging but aren't frequent enough, and if they spawn at odd times aren't reasonably doable without a large enough crowd. Things like adding more challenge log entry's for them may help too and maybe some kind of better fate chain boost for those in a party. An idea I swear I heard from somewhere was to add a boss fate that would spawn after so many fates had been done in a given area, put it somewhere between a s rank hunt and a world boss and if there's a party that's been grinding out fates they could summon a primal or something to assist in the fate.

Moving to Dynamis has really shown me just how shitty the FATE system really is. I really hope in 7.0 SE figures something out other than just tacking on an exp gimmick.
