NA Novice Network is a cesspool of idiotic and moronic mentors who are too busy stroking each other off or bitching at one another. The day I see actual help being offered in that disgusting pit is the day I'll actually do the Hildibrand questline. I feel like this is a safe bet and I won't ever have to do Hildibrand.

awful idea, I don't know what its like on other servers but NN here on Excal is basically a global chat where people sometimes ask questions (that almost always get answered) and it's a lot of fun just talking to people on it

having an actual global chat would be significantly worse, NNs requirements of either 1500 comms or being a sprout/returner (or being a trade mentor, which barely anyone knows about) as well as the ability to kick people from it is what prevents it from devolving into nothing but RMT and nightclub adverts

This might be why I avoided the NN as a sprout when I was still in NA/Siren. From my experience it's really just a reflection of many people in general in NA...I swear, here in the US it's almost like dire world events actually bring out the worst in people, instead of compelling them to, y'know...look out for each other?

Kudos to all you NA peeps here who aren't contributing to the issue, either on FFXIV or elsewhere. Can be real hard sometimes.

NN is probably among the best feature of FF14. If other MMO's took anything from this game, NN should be it. I have no idea why people complain about it over the smallest issues. With world travel I've been to multiple NN's and they're all about the same. When no one is asking questions there is a lot of friendly general chat going on which new players tend to find welcoming and enjoyable, and when a question does come up someone will make an attempt to answer it. There is nothing wrong with chatting in NN, and it seems even SE agrees with this. There are some times abuse of the system made by member of the chat, but this is what reporting is for. Suggesting to remove NN is a ridiculously short sighted and selfish idea.

I don't think you spend much time in the NN then because questions get answered all the time, even during discussions.

I usually try to participate in NN discussions on these forums because it is a system in game that is near and dear to my heart, and I find the new(er) player experience in MMO's to be interesting. My experience with the NN on Famfrit was so good, for many weeks, I am sure I would literally have quit the game if not for some very helpful people. I only ever remember trolling and nonsense getting out of hand one night and it was quickly dealt with. I had mentors answer every question no matter how great or small, and even had them invite me to groups to run me through stuff and teach me how many game systems work. I was a total stranger that they put a lot of time and work into, for no benefit to themselves. I hope someday I can do the same.

If the Mentor network is an indication of how utterly corrupt and egotistic people end up being when they just fight for relevance and shoot in each other's legs and foot to appear more "important" and parasocial-vampiriize their relevance ontop of each other eactly like 12 year old unstable discord moderator Manchildrens with the appearance of 30 year old mens, it's even More deeper with problems like CM to Streamer backdoors and Launchers something something raid aimbots and overlay privilege on 2nd pc overlaying ontop of the 1st one should be also removed. The Damudluderino incident and CM sharing codes of mounts and cosmetics, from stolen credit cards to streamers and frens of streamers incident. This game is just filled to the brim of bad practices between gm's and cm's in a circlejerk of corruption making some feeling like snowflakes / important because u get gifties from the upper echelon instead of getting a salary lol.

But it's really the petty fights on the Mentor to novice network that is the issue in this game, really. Novice's Network, is a real "issue" yes. yes. Of course... (And not even starting to talk about the continuous harassment / stalking i'm getting in game from revealing all this This CM /rmt community is completely ravaged / insane, they literally "truth is bad shut up or we will make your life in game hell". They act worse then K pop fangirls on twitter mobbing on one person for daring saying something contrary to their onethink single direction beliefs )
