Unable to retrieve Steam Account Information

I was of the belief that Valve requires you to use the Steam launcher for all of its games, including this one.

It's not a requirement.

I don't know about your library, but I have plenty of games in mine that don't integrate with Steam, many of which don't even have to be launched through Steam once downloaded.

I was having the same problem, tried to reboot pc, restart steam everything, then tried to turn off the firewall and the issue was solved right away

I am getting the same Error, i tried restarting the launcher, steam, my pc multiple times and no luck at all. Never had this issue before in 5 years. have been trying to get in for an hour now. At this rate i will probably miss my FC's monthly event


edit: seems making this forum acc and posting here did the trick, i left my PC after typing this, returned 5 mins later and had the usual login. really really strange. not gonna complain about not missing the event though xD.

I'm having this issue now. I distinctly remember this being something people were worried about when Square Enix, in their infinite wisdom, made it a requirement to have Steam open and online in order to launch FFXIV. Well guess what, it's happening.

Square Enix, CBU3, Yoshi-P, WHOMEVER is responsible for this, PLEASE either roll it back, or allow us to de-link our FFXIV accounts from Steam. It's incredibly frustrating and literally nobody wanted this.
