Venue/club advertisements have become a massive nuisance

    Edit 3:

This needs to be said since some people equate venues with roleplaying.
    I have nothing against roleplaying.
I have nothing against venues existing.

I do however have a problem with venue ads being spammed and anything that may otherwise be interesting in the "other" section of the party finder being drowned out by people who aren't trying to form parties.

I think most of the community is in agreement that these things are becoming a huge problem.

Everywhere I go, in every city, even in low level leveling zones there's "people" (many likely bots) from other data centers or servers spamming club macros.

The party finder is littered with ads.
Almost all of them are from other DCs or servers who come here for the explicit purpose of littering shout chat with ads.

This needs to start being actionable, its ruining my enjoyment of the game and its reached the point that people are regularly complaining about them after the fact.

Shout, yell and say chat shouldn't have ads in it.

    Edit:
I'm fine with trying to liquidate an item/FC recruitment/crafters looking for orders.
But venue ads really shouldn't be there.

    Edit 2:
I randomly came across a large group RPing a few hours writing this.
I see these all the time.

Venues are not the only opportunity people get to RP.
Those who want to roleplay will naturally find there way into the scene.

The scene will live on and continue to thrive without the ads.

I just want to add - this would be different if there was a viable way that didn't involve third party tools to filter/block them all.
Blacklisting them doesn't work because they pay people to go around spamming for them.

Someone even posted ads in novice network. We were talking about how annoying it was, and they kept doing it until we booted them.

go into settings, change what displays in the channel, or, use a different tab you have set up for important things like fc, tells etc. works a lot nicer, and since its a setting, its unlikely they would do much about it.

I don't disagree that nightclub ads are a nuisance (although, I rarely spend time in cities)

However, I do disagree with your statement of no ads in chat.

Obviously, they should be limited. No spam advertising your nightclub, and ZERO spamming of buying gil, etc.

However, I feel that stopping advertising would detract from having a lively world somewhat? I would LOVE if people would shout or yell about stuff they are selling, parties at their FC, etc. as long as they don't overdo it. Encourage interaction on that level. Make it more like a living, breathing world.

Woah most of the community is in agreement about this? Meanwhile I am here not being able to tell them apart from FC adverts because I simply do not read lengthy shouts.

Social advertisements belong to Fellowships, that's what it is for. I do hate all the spam in shout chat and party finder though.

I imagine most people don't care enough to give them any attention. They do seem make some people really upset though.

As a venue owner myself, I do kinda agree with you on this. It's very intrusive to people's experience when they don't want anything to do with the RP scene. It also feels very desperate. The reason why venue owners who own RP nightclubs do this is because it looks very bad on a venue if the place is dead. Just little basic psychology, but people want to be at a place where a lot of people are at. Because if they go to a nightclub that looks rather quiet, they get that feeling of missing out knowing that there are more people crowding in a different venue. Everyone wants to go to the place that is most populated, not the place that looks dead. If you own a nightclub venue, it looks so bad if it's dead and it gives a very bad first impression to first time visitors that they are likely not going to visit your place anymore if they think your place is not successful enough. So if they don't hard advertise, you can expect them to eventually close if they keep having unsuccessful turnouts.

I think a lot of advertisements should purely be from one PF at a time and be advertised on dedicated discords that are for RP enthusiast. That's just my take. I've never got myself or my staff to run around everywhere to do a shout for the venue. I think it's a bit cringe.

But I do think you're making too much of a big deal out of it. It is your choice whether or not you want to engage in that kind of content in FFXIV. Once people reach endgame, people are drawn to other stuff other than vertical progression and RP venues are just a fun thing to engage in when the game is in a content lull. There's really not much to do once you've exhausted most of the content, and RP venues are the thing that keeps people subscribed and engaged to the game. I'd say just leave them be. Yoshi P knows that the RP community makes up such a huge percentage of the playerbase and are the people who are subscribed longer, that actions being taken against them for harmlessly advertising their venues will result in a major backfire and we don't want FFXIV a huge percentage of players due to a strict change for the RP community.

For your situation, if you get annoyed by people advertising, just boot them. You have the right to do so, because novice network is a place for new players do get help from experienced players and they are not using the network for its intended purpose. And just do what you usually do and just ignore their shouts/yells. Like who cares in the end. Just leave the community be. I'm sorry to say this, but they're just as important as you as a player to keeping the game alive.

Yeah, i guess i mispoke on no advertising period. I'm fine with FC recruitment or selling items, but nightclubs shouldn't be there

The problem is that it isn't harmless.

There's laws against disturbing the peace/noise ordinances for a reason.
There's rules against flooding chat for a reason.

Because you want to make more money at your venue doesn't mean the rest of us should suffer seeing our chat flooded with ads for clubs every few minutes.
Keep in mind that you can still have an RP scene without having people flood chat for venues.
There's an entire well known site where you can have your venue listed and people will find it on there.

You're creating a false dichotomy that somehow, without flooding chat every few minutes in every zone or having ads in shout chat and flooding PF that nightclubs cannot exist.
This is not only false but extremely manipulative.

You start out by saying you agree with me, then turn around and disagree with me on every point.
Don't play games with me. You've only made my position on this stronger.

Absolutely none in shout or PF. If people want to RP, they will hear about it from word of mouth. The people who RP will find out about them because they will likely be in RP discords.

And frankly, if ONE nightclub closes because it can't get enough people in it, that doesn't mean that every single person in there will stop RPing or that they won't go to other active clubs they already know about. As is what currently happens.

    No ads != no clubs
    It means no ads.
They will still get new people because RP community is very tight knit.
