Ok, this might be a silly request, but can we get some way to either change the whistle sound effect when calling out our chocobo or a way to turn it off completely? It's a bit high-pitched and freaks my cat out every single time.

Oh boy.. C'mon say you can live with it. They can't change everything again in this game x.x plus I like that sound. Just mute your sound or the SFX or whatever. Ridiculous.
Shouldn't have to mute all sound effects just because of one particular sound. I don't mind it personally, but i feel bad for the cat. lol. I'd just hack the sound if I could. I used to put "Surfin Bird" over the music track that played while riding the chocobo in FFXI. ^^
Lol now I just understood what cat you were talking about.
I am sorry but you have to take the GoBbUe or teach your cat which whistle is ingame and which one is rl :P
Put your cat right in front of your speaker, turn up volume and then keep pressing the chocobo icon until it stops freakin.

I try to use the goobue when the cats in the room, but then I can't see where I'm going. :P
And it's not that the cat is afraid or anything, it's just the high-pitch hurts it's ears. If it's lying on my lap, it actually digs its nails into me whenever I call the chocobo.
Maybe the devs will set the pitch down a bit xD

They shouldn't have to change something for your cat.
Umm...ok... if you want your cat to stop freaking out then its usually best to associate that sound with something.
Then your cat will have an expectationfollowing that sound. If your concern for your cat in genuine, then you should be more then happt to take these steps yourself, rather then expecting a gaming company to do it for you. Some ideas:
_ Keep some cheap, 3$ hair ties next to your computer. When you get on your Chocobo, throw a hair tie. After time your cat will associate that sound with a hair tie being throw. Instead of Choco whistler = wtf was that, Choco whistle will = Hair tie incomming. Most cats enjoy playing with hair ties (The extra long ones used as ties and head bands are extra fun)
_ Keep some cat treats nearby, and do like above. (although if your riding the choco often this one isn't as healthy.
Cats have a good memory for specific sounds. (open a can, they show up. rattle a bag of dry food, they show up. Tiny bell on a toy, they know that sound.) The point is to re associate that particular sound to something consitant.
Good luck!
