Maintenance on Halloween?

Soo with the new NA DC there is likely to be 24h maint, right? The 24h before its launched? As in OVER HALLOWEEN DAY?!
Any way we can stop this? So many players have events planned for halloween they have been planning all year! or use this game as their halloween fun because they can't get out to enjoy it otherwise. And now the game is likely to be in maint during it?!
I know perhaps halloween isn't so big in japan but please. This is so upsetting.

This is a new DC, so they can just block new character creation/transfers.

OCE is the only other new datacentre recently. For us:

We opened on 25/1 - the previous 24 hour maintenance was over 11/1 and 12/1. But at that time I think it could have even just been a client update, and they worked on the new DC in the background while everyone played.

I.. dont think either of you are getting the point. There are plenty of Halloween events all month long. But halloween night is specific. The penultimate event.
My whole family will be gone, but I am stuck at home. I was looking forward to spending it with my friends in game and I am not the only one.
I also dont know what blocking new character creation/transfers does? I believe they did state in the LL 24h maint for 6.28 as well as the new DC on these dates.

Its either that or move it to another date, at which the NA players will STILL complain.

You have been asking for new datacentres for ages, the 24 hr maint is to make sure they are up and running in time. It has to be done SOMETIME.

Despite whatever holidays there are overseas, the SE team operates on their OWN timetable. It gets done when it needs to get done, its as simple as that.

But halloween night is specific.

We have had maint during OUR holidays as well, 25 January to 26 January is / was our Australia Day, which is for us a major event. I empathise, but you need to very much bear in mind that the teams work on their own schedule, if they were to shift that timetable to accommodate every holiday overseas, nothing would ever get done.

Ill restate this and it needs to be remembered

The teams have a schedule for work to get done, dates, times, timetables, dev team coordination, the entire megillah. They may be aware of that date, they may not, either way dev work, maintenance, new servers, patches, all of it happens at a specific time that is blocked out to get the task done start to finish.

I.. dont think either of you are getting the point.

They can implement a new DC without turning the game off for 24 hours. As proof, the game wasn't stopped for 24 hours for materia. The datacentre appeared as offline until the time stated, then it came online.

As for 6.28 that could be a 4 hour on 1/11, as it's only a .0x release. Halloween is on 31/10?

True, with DC travel complicating it, But I think it will follow the same path. The maintenance before the 1/11 will add the new DC to the login screen. They will just leave the lobby server for the DC turned off (or login barred) until then. At the specified time it will turn green. In the meantime they will test it in a live sense.

On the 1/11 the mogstation and companion apps will go down for 24 hours, and when they come back up 2/11, people can transfer.

Edit to say: 1/11->4/11 I think would be quite riskier stability wise, with sudden maintenance a possibility. So if anyone wants to reschedule their events to be safe, earlier than 31/10 is likely safer.

It's not that hard but then again the hardest part is convincing the SE defense force that maintenance during a holiday that is recognized throughout most of the world (doubly so on the server region that you are knocking out~) is a bad idea. Though I wonder what part of that decision was made by the JP devs or the Califorina gatekeepers in the west.
