Like... the XIVth Legion remnants in Eorzea have been eating their shoes and trying to steal spare parts from crashed warships for the past 5 expansions.

And we've left the VIth Legion stranded on Azys Lla for 4 expansions. Chimaera have probably eaten them all by now, but maybe some guy who plays Triple Triad, and therefore cannot die, wants to finally go home.

Also is the IVth Legion done or... what? Maybe I didn't grind enough Gacha Wiki Pages to find out. Well, if they need help, maybe we should look into that, too, considering the state they were in last time I could be bothered to log into Bozja.

Also maybe help Drest stop having a mental breakdown?

And like, the Garlean Embassy in Kugane? Now that they're not really... a nation, are they expelled? Executed? Stranded? Trying to survive as geisha? Anything? Writers? Please?

I don't know, I feel like this kind of humanitarian situation is a higher priority to my character than helping confused refugees go play with lunatic chibi rabbit people inside their gigantic daycare facility, and whatever Saturday-morning-cartoon plot the current Beast Tribe storylines are spinning in circles with.

They are big and strong invaders, they got themselves there, they can find their way out.

But more seriously, some of them are doing fine.
In the reaper questline it's mentioned that there's imperial stragglers who sells ceruleum in Thanalan.

We'll most likely interact with the second imperial legion when we'll go to Corvos and see them.

I think most legions you see roaming the world are just consequences of the areas taking place in a fix period of time associated with the expansion they were released in.

:P eh, the VIth will figure itself out. It's like a cat. They found a way in, they can bloody well find a way out. Especially since they have a plethora of Allagan tech to explore.

The IVth Legion is not one that wants our help though. In the slightest. Their goal is to make their own empire through force, possibly at the cost of the population that doesn't share their demented views. They've resorted to using cultists, and they also still have an established leadership. Menenius might have died at the Dalriada, but Sicinius, Lyon, Pagaga, Clarricie and more importantly Gabranth are still out there. It's stated in the Field Notes that Gabranth died because of a genetic disease, but people in Dalmasca have seen him walking around. And we know that Sicinius was released from the Dalmascan resistance by an infiltrated Lyon. Sicinius's whole experiment was about taking the memories of a person, transplanting them onto someone with a similar body, and then disfigure the body through plastic surgery to make them look like the transplanted person, thus allowing the memories to settle. So expect them to be dealt with rather than helped. They willingly cut themselves off from the Empire to make their own, they probably see Garlemald's destruction as "less competition". They're the odd ones out.

The Garlean Embassies likely will be wondering what the actual hell just happened as all communications with the main host were lost during the Civil War/Anima Purge. When communication is re-established and some order is set in Garlemald, either their plans will change or some weird friction will happen.

Drest needs to go to an AA meeting and seriously sort his life out.

You're right tho. This is a humanitarian crisis, because now you have an entire scattered army with no leadership or direction, many of them sitting on nukes, with a lot of conscripts around. And that's just counting the people we know of.

Personally, given how the RPR quests have gone, the Lemures should really try to pitch some help. Ok sure, they're shady, but they don't have to outright tell the Sultana "Hey, we're voidsent-carrying warrior farmers from Garlemald, mind letting us help deal with the people still in Cape Westwind?". That wouldn't fly well. But a few of our sidequest guys do have a connection to Garlemald and could help out in a joint effort around the world.

I assume OP doesn't want you to help them rule. Just address the fact that now you have an entire army, slaves, conscripts and half a continent with no leadership and resources. And the ones who are dealing with the core of the situation are still yet to figure out a means to deal with this. If anything, our actions there will prevent their old regime and ways from coming back. But just because we beat up their rule doesn't mean that we can now leave them to anarchy. Much less out of spite. We'd be no better than the people who drove them to become what they were in the past.

It's a lot of people, a lot of resources and a lot of land. If we don't at least establish some order and help the groups around the world calm down and not do something reckless, we're just creating mini rogue factions that will be a pain in the arse to deal with in the future. And our presence would at least ensure there'd be democracy and a breakdown of old walls, stereotypes and mindsets.

From a gameplay standpoint, the only things we can really do are help Drest and acknowledge the Garlean embassy in Kugane.

Dalmasca's current situation is kind of in limbo given how Bozja's content has progressed, and Drest is from Dalmasca, so reuniting him with his family is kind of on the backburner. Especially until they decide to hire Matsuno back again to finish the whole Dalmasca plot.

The Garlean embassy part could be solved simply by changing their text.

As for all of the various legions, they're gonna have to stick around since they're part of the time bubble. Not exactly easy to completely get rid of an army of interactable enemies without completely making new instances for the zones. People at their story segments need to be able to interact with them.

Story-wise a lot of these places are probably helped and evacuated. It's gonna have to be a matter of suspending your disbelief.
