RELIC artifact weapons?

Because this isn't FFXI.

A Relic is something that is created to preserve the essence of the origin or the soul (in this case it would be the Soul of whatever Job).

An Artifact is a manmade object found and deemed useful in learning about the history of a culture or event.

I say Relics makes sense.

You only say this because of what you've know from somewhere else.

Think "FINAL FANTASY XIV". The word "Relic" is just a word, it's just the name they've given to these weapons. See the word "Relic" as a unique feature of this particular game, don't refer to other games.

Bad choice of name, in my opinion. Many people think to XI's Relics, a different thing from AF Weapon in XIV. It's only a matter of name... I don't care.

This isn't even close to a relic weapon- Relic are epic and very rarely Obtained, I call this thing Artifact... fairly easy to obtained and doesn't consume your a whole year process- at the speed of getting all artifact weapon- it seems fair enough. What do you newbies want all the artifact weapon Today? just so you can stop logging in this game and stop playing it? well then go play league of legends!!!

Fail on you for being mad at a name SE gave to something. My guess is you didn't know SE called it Relic, and only thought people did. Now that you know, you are trying to reason something together.

Anyways. They are the hardest thing to get as of now, and they will be able to be upgraded later on. You seem to think this is FFXI, and fail to understand the dev team is trying to give us some cool items before the push to 2.0.

Interestingly, the "relic" weapons are only referred to as such in the 'localized' versions of the text, whereas the original Japanese text refers to them as either 古の武器 "ancient" weapons or "job specific" weapons ジョブ専用武器. But the FFXI relic weapons were called レリックウェポン relic weapon. Hmmm....

I believe these weapons will upgrade further in the future as well; who's not to say they put in a quest that takes 6-18 months to complete later when the game is at its final cap to make them truly synonymous with 11's Relic's.
