Back in HW, there were one upper team composition which breaked the game : WAR, DRK, SCH, AST, NIN, DRG, BRD, MCH.
- The DRK was the best MT : reprisal was a powerfull ogcd which came with a -10% boss dommage with a huge uptime, it claimed all cross action from PLD and WAR in top it's own, and delirium was a combo which cut 10% intel from bosses, which leaded to 10% less magic dommage from bosses, so near 10% dommage down as a lot of dommages are magic.
- The WAR was a good of tank as it had a slashing debuff (so NIN don't have to use its own one), and a 10% dommage debuff
- The PLD in comparaison wasn't able to block magic dommages, and got a 10% strengh/dex down, pretty useless.

- The NIN got aggro management and trick attack,
- The DRG got Battle litany, and piercing debuff which increased by 10% dommages from DRG, BRD and MCN
- Both BRD and MCN gain free 10% dommage by having a DRG in the team, in addition to have some ogcd with one minute cd.
- In top of that, MCH got a physical vulnerabilty which lasted for a long time on it's mono target turret.

Maybe jobs were more balanced (which is something I hightly doubt), however, one thing is certain is team composition was far to be even, at a point if you want to pass savage you needed this specific team composition or were overileveled.
