As a normal player, what are you going to think when someone says
"Attacking White Mage!"
?
You will likely think: "Ah, that person is informing me that they are taking care of the WHM, that's so nice of them!"
However, in CC those quick chat commands are used to inform other people to actually focus a target together. So why doesn't it say
"Focus the White Mage!"
?
That would be way better for casual players who do not inform themselves about the game via external sources. Who is supposed to know that "I am attacking X!" actually means "You should attack X!"? Make no mistake, there is easily a majority of players who is actively mislead by this chat command.
Also egregious: In German the "Fall back and regroup!" chat command just says "Regroup!" Nobody understands that they're supposed to actually fall back and seek safety.
Using Quick Chat thus has barely any effect, cause people don't understand that I mean Y when I say X. I just can't say Y.
It's so anti-casual, because in order to even understand what's going on you have to be in the know about what those chat commands actually mean.
Another example: Some players use "Hello!" to signify that their burst is ready. Are you kidding me? This makes part of PvP inherently inapproachable for normal people.
As a tryhard I am forced to stand by and not able to help my fellow normal people gamers, who don't do anything wrong, they are just being mislead by bad game design. I can individually help after the match, but I would prefer if the game gave us the chat commands we really need.
