This remaster or new release should appeal to adventure/open world/progression enjoyers and XIV should probably stick to its pop culture theme park instanced rides.

They should share a sub. I think everyone would be much happier. They could even share assets but the style of these MMO's would appeal to different crowds and be popular in their respective fields. I'm sure of it.

Shared sub won’t ever happen, so I rather them focusing on this game instead of letting it become the sims 4 with friends.

You're kind of late there. But regardless of whether they will or its dreaming, the important thing is whether the idea is good or not. And to be frank, this MMO, and the MMO landscape is being shared by two very different groups of people now a days. One's that want something casual and a quick dopamine high and others who want complex in depth systems and progression that takes time and patience.

What's worse is 1.0 and the people who kept it alive were fans of FF mmo's at which point only XI existed, and 1.0 failed for a variety of reasons but to me the biggest one was the glaring technical problems and lack of content, not the style or premise of the game. So it's no wonder some of the people who this game used to have as a target audience have been growing increasingly discontent.

I know why I stopped playing 1.0. I couldn't play it without getting incredibly frustrated at all the bugs and insanely slow menus and stuttering. It just sucked. But if the game ran smoothly it would've been fine. It had nothing to do with the style they were going for. I was fine with that.

i mean if you came to 1.0 when it first launch they gave the players of both pretty nifty discount for FFXI. I think they should offer that incentive again.

There's still the 21th anniversary going on. You can get the whole game plus all expansions for 10 bucks, and comes with a month of playtime.


However, the klunkiness of many elements of that game is really a downer, starting already with PO registration and account managing.

I can see some stick to the game through sheer stubborness, but likely the most will bounce off of it after a few days.

Well, no, they didn't. What PlayOnline advertised was a 3-month reduction in the subscription for FFXI if you linked your PlayOnline account with your Final Fantasy XIV account. This was back in 2012. The FFXIV game shut down in 2012.

I'm all for it. Especially given the state of FFXIV these days. FFXI is an actual mmorpg with classes that are more than just reskins of each other and whose world still feels like home.

Xi is still there. I don't know why we need a new XI when the game is still up and running. I never got past the Dunes in XI because I couldn't keep a leveling party for more than a couple hours and no one in my LS wanted to go back to suffering in that place. It left a terrible impression of the game. After two weeks of struggling to get any kind of party together only for them to fall apart shortly after I just gave up and never looked back.

Because it is a PS2 era game from 20 years ago and the graphics and menus are outdated. But the style of gameplay is very much in demand by some people. Is it unplayable? no, but why did they remake VII then? The could just play the orginal.... But it was a huge success wasn't it? So the same reason.
