Just, let us give you money dammit. I had an event planned for someone I care about, there's a store mount she's really been wanting that I wanted to give her. And now I can't give her that.

I know SE listens to the community, so I wanted to add my voice to the chorus: Let us buy gift codes.

"Oh but what if they already have it?" then the receiver can re-gift it, or they can contact SE, or any other measure that so far has been working. But don't stop the entire community from being able to give each other gifts on that.

If they actually did listen, the community would have been surveyed to get their opinions and not just slapped on it at the end of their "rework"

honestly, what was their plan with this? I figure they knew the community would have been pissed off. It also doesn't make sense on a profit level. A LOT pf FCs and Discord servers do giveaways and tournaments where you can win mounts etc., SE just cut off those profits + the subscription money from the people that actively engaged with that content. I have a friend who also plays and sometimes we liked to surprise each other with a gift from the mogstation too, but i guess thats gone now :/

Agreed on this. This is a very anti-community move by them for minimal legal cover and doing very little to actually combat RMT. I hope they see the feedback from this and change their mind.

RMT is bad yeah sure, I agree but honestly this isn't Everquest circa 2002. Many modern MMORPG'S have built in legal ways to purchase currency these days anyway. I think this is a case of the cure being worse than the disease.

The GW2 gem exchange comes to mind specifically. The way they lock down their game's economy until new accounts clear is nice.

Yes. I am going to call that one petty and tiny. If you were stuck with one hair style then I would get it. You aren't.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the first bit. I am casual, after all. I also am still probably new enough to not care, at all, about reused gear and if something is undyable I either wear it as is, or find something else. Quite petty and also tiny I would say.

I would be lying if I said I had heard zero complaints of jobs being "dumbed down" in game. But Ive also heard plenty of people saying "oh yeah I like the new AST for Endwalker" or more recently, SAM lost an ability or something? IDK, but again enough people Ive talked to in game who either didnt know about this or did not care, that im gonna go ahead and slide this one over to tiny and petty too.

Since I haven't purchased anything on the mogstation for a friend since all my friends quit the game, this isn't a real issue. Seems pretty petty and tiny in my opinion, it's all worth it if it even has the smallest chance of halting some RMTs.

Of course, this is a joke. I wouldn't think that because someone does, enjoys or participates in something that I do not, that they deserve to have that option taken away from them, especially out of callousness.

When they inevitably backtrack on this, yet ANOTHER short-sighted, reckless action that impacts people with unnecessary collateral damage to an established playerbase, I hope it remains your ONLY bother, and a isolated memory of a misstep, rather than an addition to the ever-growing pile of "things I really wish didn't happen" like some of us.
