Please finish exploring the Three Great Continents before anywhere else on the Source

With the story pointing towards a trip to the 13th for the next expansion, it's highly unlikely for more exploration on the source any time soon. With that said, there are so many areas still left unexplored shown in the map it would be a shame to leave it so for too long.

I'd be shocked if we don't go to Meracydia in 7.0 simply based on the conversation we had with Emet at the end of endwalker. The story with the 13th likely will be done by 6.5 and will lead into something with 7.0.

Having an entire expansion dedicated to the 13th after devoting most of the 6.x MSQ to it would feel a bit...excessive, IMO. If anything we should go back there later after the situation has more time to develop, assuming there's even any loose threads left by then.

If they're trying to take us in an "unpredictable" direction for 7.x, Ilsabard arguably would be moreso then Meracydia simply because it wasn't mentioned as one of those places we should visit. I would much rather see/address what in the world is going on over there in the wake of the empire's fall and everything that followed then anything else on the Source, personally.

I agree for the idea of exploring Ilsabard before moving elsewhere, just for the reason that i'm tired of seeing the map covered in clouds.

It would be a shame to move into a new continent like Meracydia or the new world when we haven't explored the middle of the map yet.
Like you said, it would be a good way to tie loose ends about the empire situation, and additionally get info about the provinces of Garlemald and their situations.

Considering that people were so sure we were going to Garlemald in 5.0 with everything pointed in that direction and then we ended up getting shunted off to the First, I don't think I myself would be able to accurately guess where we're going for 7.0. Especially since Yoshi-P said that we currently would have no idea from the current content.

Logic would say Ilsabard, Meracydia, or the New World, but who knows? We've been sent to an alternate dimension twice, time traveled to the time of the Ancients, gone to the Moon followed by outer space via spaceship, and walked into the Realm of the Gods. Nothing is off the table now and since we've been told to expect the unexpected, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to suggest the Dragonstar, Vana'diel, a continent on the back of a giant, or that Hildibrand becomes required content and we get sent to the world Gilgamesh came to before this one, or even a screen that asks us to insert disc 1 of FFXVI.


While it would be nice to clear Ilsabard of its clouds, I'm personally sick of anything having to do with Garleans, Ascians/Ancients, and Allagans and I would like a clean break and for us to do something for a couple of years that has nothing to do with them. It would be a nice vacation and a stepping stone for new players to jump into the game without having to deal with the baggage of 12 years of plot and all the expansions ahead of time.

Subverting Expectations did not work out so well in Endwalker hence why there are nearly 800 pages on that post and they said they are still in the process of deciding where the story goes so it may be walked back to fit more in line to fit with player expectations to play it safe. After spending 2 years on a shard and half of this expansion away from the modern day source I just want to explore more of the source especially as a role-player and right now Ilsabard is in a precarious situation that can lead to lots of great world building what with both the fall of the empire and suffering the most damage from the final days. Also as for the Garleans maybe they do something different with them instead of just lazily sweep them under the rug like maybe have us work with more moderate factions that maybe formed their own nation, you know have us work with them instead of making more mobs and dungeons out of them, that is where most people got sick of the aesthetic and wanted new villians or at least that is where I stood. Maybe start off the new storyline by having the Ilsabard contingency help set up an adventurers guild to deal with the numerous problems and that is where new players can start similar to 2.0. quite frankly i find the prospect of exploring Ilsabard and Orthard with its various nations much more interesting then modern day Meracydia which is stated as being a wasteland (it did sound interesting in ancient times though) and i have no interest to really explore anywhere else before the clouds are uncovered over Ilsabard and we explore there.

Its possible the first half could have us in Ilsabard and then we move on from there, but I'm still putting my bets on Meracydia.

I suspect anything more with Ilsabard will likely be side story stuff. Meaning raids, trials, etc. If the devs are wanting a fresh start, Meracydia would be the best place for us to end the whole Allagan story stuff at and cap us at level 100, before starting us at level 1 (a new leveling system just for new content from this point on) with the New World in 8.0.

Alternatively Islabard can deal with lingering plot threads such as the Remnants of the legions, new nations regaining their freedom, the aftermath of the final days since Ilsabard got hit the hardest in 7.0 before taking us to new continents like Meracydia in 8.0 since if the WoL is truly a selfless hero like them they should help the people there rebuild before going off on their big adventure.

Yes, I hope so too. My wish would be that we explore Ilsabard while looking for a place for the Garlean survivors to settle.

They seem to not want the Garlean to stay at Garlemald, so would be nice if we dedicated 7.0 helping them searching for new home. And with that purpose, we will have excuse to explore the rest of Ilsabard too. Maybe we can even get more nuanced politic stuff, where some nations prefer to follow the empire and some others don't.
