What’s Your Story?

I’m interested to hear what other people think of for their WoL’s story - whether it’s canon jobs, motivations, canon mounts and so on. I’ve always seen FFXIV as an anime in regards to headcanons, with a main series and optional movies with no bearing on the main plot. Also mind you I’m not a writer so pardon any cheesiness.

My WoL started in Gridania as a conjurer, eventually earning the title of WHM. After visiting Uldah and hearing of black magic, he slowly adapted and learned thaumaturgy until mastering that too as a BLM. Since Alphinaud and Urianger were both adept at healing, he stuck with BLM throughout the majority of the story (its magic was more alluring to him, anyway).
In-between major plot lines, he went to the therapy session that is DRK but decided it was too risky in practice to use often. Instead, if he had to be the defense, he’d learn from Thancred as a GNB.
By ShB, Urianger’s work as an AST was intriguing him. Healing with the stars and not lilies? So in another “side movie” he went through the AST plotline after guidance from Urianger. He fell in love with the galaxy-brain skills at his command, and chose to make AST his healer of choice.
Come EW, the rising tensions and the threat Zenos posed led him to also take up the scythe as a RPR. Getting beaten multiple times and Zenos’ arguments had gotten to him, he figured the only way to beat Zenos was to fight voidsent with voidsent. Now he wields the scythe, honoring the bond he’s made in a risky effort to protect this star.
With the world-ending threats now seemingly gone, he’s gotten some much needed RnR. In his spare time after forming bonds with the people of Thavnair, he’s taken up performing as a DNC (in perhaps another side movie) to let loose and take his mind off things.

My character is only a WoL when I do the story quests I'll always pick the in-character responses for her when she's asked questions or I get to choose a response as well. Between non-WoL and WoL, only her "how did you come to your starting city" remains the same and that is:

Coming to Ul'dah to send medicine, money, and food back to her dying people after the Calamity took so much away from them.

The rest of the story is her WoL canon, and she's currently sleeping a boatload between patches now because Twelve Almighty, she's been going hard at saving the star and she needs some dang rest... while probably working with Tataru to do what she originally hit up Eorzea to do. She's certainly making bank for the Scions.

Outside of that, her actual story, is a lot different. She works odd jobs for coin and odd rewards like the aforementioned medicine and non-rotted food to send back home. The Calamity messed up so many aetheric balances, it made a lot of her people sick and killed more. She was one of the few to be able to be sent out, not too ill to travel, and so off she went. Her backstory is lore-bendy, but still plausible.

My other characters are similar where they aren't the WoL unless I'm doing the MSQ. Makes for more interesting stories for myself, I feel.

Well, according to Ishikawa, all my WoLs are very prone to frowning or being on the verge of tears very often, supposedly deep inside don't enjoy helping people and have some kind of saiyan-like bloodlust, are number 1 fans of haurchefant, simp hard for Hades and Venat, constantly bait G'raha Tia and wants to give loving hugs or handshake to every entity that single handedly threatens the star unless they're from Garlemald.

Traveling scholar as a Black Mage who wanted to explore a variety of new magics across Eorzea. Got accidentally roped into deranged adventures and has felt like she has been running down a 45 degree slope ever since. Has anxiety issues that she will one day be found out given she is not a "professional" adventurer. Eventually learned every job after realising that not knowing how to use heavy armour and also dodge like a ninja was going to get her killed.
