Brian from Work 2 Game is leaving FFXIV

When MMOs first came out, there wasn't as much competition for people's time as there is now. They simply can't afford to do the "hardcore" style anymore. I put it in quotes because, looking back at the design, there wasn't much to it. Some might call it lazy. People whine about tome caps now, but they probably never had to spend whole days working on one level or one raid zone, where you had to deal with a lot of trash mobs.

Those days are done. If you want to invest that kind of time in something, there are plenty RL projects to consider and legit be proud of.

Not reading 30 pages(lol) but I get the gist. Brian might very well come back at a later date. Or he won’t. People’s tastes change. And while I’m sure it sucks for his FF14 focused fans, I’m not really concerned. Better people leave till they feel a desire to return than not leave and grow resentment.

And to those calling the game stale while simultaneously pointing out new gameplay like variants and Island Sanctuary, you gave me a chuckle. Game might be stale for you, assuming you are speaking in good faith. And that’s fine. Go do something that isn’t stale for a while and come back when you feel like it. But to claim the game isn’t innovating is just silly. It’s even innovating on raid-related things, like boss mechanics, via variant dungeons, so I honestly don’t know how that can be a complaint.

I imagine he didn't play it at launch. Its a ok game and has its draws to it if you've never played it before, but ya even after two years and several updates it still basically has no content and pvp is actually a bigger mess than this games pvp and that game was initially built as a pvp focused game lol.

That to me just says he wants to shock-value people into interacting with him for views and algorithm, ngl... Does he get anything if his videos are disliked that much though?

Also, If he really left, why is he still talking about FF14 like he has to? His following 3 videos after saying goodbye to 14 are "Why New World > 14", "Asmongold responds to 14's fanbase reacting to me" and "Zepla responds". I feel like if he wanted to leave, he'd have just left and moved on. He has no other video on his channel as of yet that isn't related to 14. Even when it's about another game, it's still about 14. I think I'd rather hear why New World is worth playing at all than why it's better than X game. I once had a friend who told me 14 was trash and that GW2 was the absolute best. I like both ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they're two different games, probably have common grounds for comparison, but I'll just play both.

At first I just chalked it up to people making a big deal out of some youtuber because he left 14, but now it just feels like constantly talking about him and interacting with his content is what he wants.

Unfortunately yes, they get money per adds, dislikes “don’t matter” as much as long as the shock factor is there to give him views by enticing people to click on his video.

Thats why youtube is now filled with reactions, with click bait, with “why Ill NEVER AGAIN...” crap...stupid surprise pikachu face thumbnails, constant competition between products to entice fans, stupid drama between people because even negative views are still views...it sucks. In a way they are forced to make such clickbaiting titles to stay relevant and that will only change once people refuse to click such videos in the first place, but humans feed off drama and negativity.

Yes, and its working. A lot of youtubers do that. He'll rake in the cash, ppl will talk about him and gossip instead of being bored because they found something they want to judge. That's how it goes. All I see is profit being made.

I mean, if the guy likes New World, fine. No hate, nothing but support, I highly advocate for one to go play a game they like, more then forcing themselves to suffer a game they Dont like.
Its just his own subjective opinion why he likes another game more then FFXIV. Dont know why or see how its such a controversy, when so many others: and I think he even made videos about how FFXIV is better then WoW and the competition.
Im sure there is vids about how GW2 is better then the competition...its just an opinion. Why get all mad about it?
