i feel like theyre scraping the bottom of the barrel with jobs since many of them which they drew from ff3 and ff5 (and to an extent ff4 and 8), there's a lot of them that are just "X job but better" or "X job but slightly different) (think thief & rogue) or have mechanics in them that can't really be translated to an mmorpg. for example geomancer in ff5's abilities were dependent on the terrain you were on (overworld, forests, caves, etc). both jobs in endwalker are essentially XIV originals, with sage being a classic ff reference in name only (sages in ff3 just could do white, black and summon magic, tellah the sage in ff4 was a master of both black and white magic). honestly i'd rather them just do their own spin of a job instead of arbitrarily limiting themselves because "it wont be faithful". they could've just done blue mage (and had its job quests be about you learning monster magic. i don't hear anybody crying that dark knight doesn't use HP for their abilities despite that being their signature ability in FF4.

anyway next expac jobs will be either a tank+caster or tank+phys ranged. they have always released a melee (or melee-lite in the form of a tank) in an expansion.

ninja was released in ARR
HW had dark knight
SB had samurai
SHB had gunbreaker
EW had reaper

they'll need a cool badass melee job to use as the posterboy for the expansion. since it was paladin's turn this time, expect either ninja or gunbreaker to be the posterboy for 7.0
