Favorit FF games for me of all times.

VII, VIII, IX, X, and XI.

6 I think had the best villian of all time, Good old Sephy fall short. I mean seriously Kefka was crazy and actully blew up the world more or less.

VII was just an overall game.

IX I think embodied what FF was, not as good as VI and VII but a really good game none the less.

    I think X told a spectacular story.

XI was just a epic game in general, only mmo that made me feel a true sense of accomplishment and attachment to my guild.

I liked XII but not as much as the previous titles, and XIII was ok but it was missing the magic of the other games.

I played all FF except the original Tactics and XIII, but I saw the entire XIII played by my BF so I kinda feel I played it too. I loved all of them, even FFX-2, being FF2 the less loved due to the strange spell tier system. It was kinda irritating to see Cure level up and cost so much mp. FFVIII is also for me not on the top because the villain changed so many times. Edea was bad, then good, Seifer was bad but you learned he was brainwashed. Then all of a sudden Ultimecia appears and you should hate her because she was the reason of all. And Adel... I was used in all FF to hate the villain like in FFVII I couldn't wait to get to the crater and smack Sephiroth.
FFX was awesome, made me cry, great battles, great extras and music. FFIX also made me cry, the ending was unexpected. FFVII was my first and I remember saving right before Aerith gets the hit so I could replay it every time. FFX-2 was too Barbie, and the story was a bit forced but I still loved the job system and the extras that made you replay it to get 100%. Why Tidus really comes back is a flaw to me but well...
FF11 got me hooked for 5 years, "nuff said".
Prolly my favourites of all might be the most adult ones, from FF10 onwards. FFXII is one of my favourites, story is amazing, and each character is very well defined. No more lil princesses, no more kids trying to be the main heros. The only thing I missed was the summons who were useless but still fun to get. FFXIII is also great to me, I did get bored sometimes watching my BF playing it for all the tunnels and endless areas, but the story was rewarding.

I couldn't position all of them in a top chart, because all of them make me play them again and again. Some have maybe less gaming power but on other hand a big story to be told, or other way round. Maybe today I want a growned woman to fight for her kingdom's freedom, but tomorrow I just want to be a girl who needs to be rescued. Anyhow all FF are special to me and their stories never to be forgotten.

Edit: I left out FFVI!!! I should have no cookies today
Awesome adult story, nothing was like it seemed, great crew of characters, abilities, summons, music. I never got to have all summons sadly, so I might give it another try.

Mainstream-wise, out of the ones I played...

    1. Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System
    2. Final Fantasy X = Final Fantasy VIII
    3. Final Fantasy XII
    4. Final Fantasy XIII (incomplete, had to play on my friend's since I don't have a PS3...)
    5. Final Fantasy VI
    6. Final Fantasy VII

    Spin-offs/other titles

    1. Dissidia Final Fantasy
    2. Final Fantasy X-2
    3. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
    4. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
    5. Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- = Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions

Not a large range of games...but oh well.

You completely ignore what made the game addictive to me from the very beginning. The battle system.

    FF4 for nostalgia.

FF12 for open-ended adventuring, License board, lore, providing a challenge to shake my confidence when side exploring making me feel the need to overcome said challenge, and having an offline FFXI feel using the same engine, but with AI party members. Though curious about Zodiac/International edition's revision of the License board.

FF13 for challenging battles during the entire duration of the game, never making me feel like I overleveled, role system (whole different difficulty if you set the battle to Abilities for default action and manually choose instead of Auto).

My 3 favourites, in no particular order, are:
FFVII - it was my first step into the world of RPG's.
FFVIII - as mentioned, the triple triad was seriously addictive. I also loved the look and feel of VIII.
FFX - The soundtrack of FFX is the thing that stuck with me the most.

    The why's:

    Characters:
All of them had characters you could relate to in some way or another. They were all special in their own way and allowed you a freedom of choice of which ones to use meaning your party felt like it was your party instead of being forced to use certain people. This left a lot of space for character and party levelling progression.

    Minigames:
I spent countless days playing the minigames in all of the aforementioned games. Whether it be chocobo racing/raising, Triple Triad, or the wonderful Blitzball where you could even build your own Blitzball team from people you talk to scattered around the game world. They were all reasons enough on their own to play the game, and something to work on alongside the main storyline.

    Storylines:
I was drawn into the story straight away for all 3 of these games. I felt like there was a sense of purpose and when you get drawn in enough you end up feeling like you can't log off because you need to do whatever the task at hand is in game otherwise X will die, or Y will destroy the world. The storylines just had to be seen through to the end. I quit playing FFIX half way through because I didn't feel it.
