IDEA: Savage gear for an alt job

A lot of people want to get alternate jobs geared up during savage tier, but the devs won't budge on making any changes to tome caps, so I came up with this idea to meet halfway.

Have a new or existing NPC offer one set of coffers or enough books to a character if they meet at least two conditions:

Item level equal to a full set of savage gear
The achievement for 5 or 10 clears.

EDIT: Thinking on this more, perhaps books are the way to go. Talk to an NPC and get a coffer with all the books needed for another set.

Eventually people could come by this gear more easily, but by that point, there's already better gear to be obtained.

Could just add an npc that lets you exchange raid gear from 1 role/job to another, feel like that'd be the simplest way of going about without making raid gear flat out quicker to get. Though they really should at the very least quicken tome gear n' add more options for upgrade mats...

Why should you go in as a tank or healer, and then get DPS gear?

This essentially punishes people who only want to play as DPS (where there are limited spaces available), because those DPS that multi-class will have easier access to the gear.

It's like everybody wants things handed to them on a plate, and it is the absolute worst things about MMOS.

It sounds simple, but it's actually more work to put that in every time. I suggested gear and achievement checks because they already have these kinds of checks in place on various NPCs. You get a free set for putting in the work on a main job. Now you have that flexibility you're after.

No? It's very useful for when nobody in your group needs a coffer that drops, you can still use the coffer for another job you want to gear. You can do this with the books that Savage gives as well, this isn't a new or recent thing. I'm going to do reclears on the jobs I have geared the highest, that shouldn't be a big middle finger to me once I am BiS but still want to help others in my static or in PF with getting their BiS.

No thanks. I don't want to go back to the era where random pieces of gear that drop are useless because no one plays the class. We already get that a little in Turn 4 where a random wep drops along side the coffers. The coffer system was a good step in the right direction. (the older system was before my time, but everyone enjoys the coffer system way better).

Not really, ideally they would just need to make the npc exchange the gear for the book value and you trade in books for w/e you need, that npc would only need to work with the current tier of gear as well, though I suppose it would need some restriction to, something like 1 piece a week or so.
