Agreed. I stopped raiding after killing P8S twice because of how shitty the gearing loop is (in addition to static problems and pf raiding being a waste of time).

But to be fair, what's the point of gearing further if you already cleared it? To be ready for the next tier when pentamelded crafted gear will replace it all?
So you can clear the same fight but 20 seconds faster(oh boi). Or have a ilvl to meet super endgame requirements. IMO there is no point.
That "20 seconds" could be the difference between skipping a mechanic, and thus clearing, or wiping on it because PF is inconsistent like that. It's also significantly more than "20 seconds". You can shave off a whole minute depending on the fight. Nevertheless, the whole point of RPGs for a lot of people is a sense of character progression. We're in week 9. I don't want to play a gimped version of Ninja over two months into the raid tier because I only just started being able to put gear towards a job that isn't my main. And I'm someone in a static who does splits. PF heroes can go literal months without getting a single drop. So that nine weeks is essentially nothing for them, especially since most people in PF aren't clearing the last fight in the fight two weeks.
Really, there's "no point" to doing anything. Why collect all the relics? They're only worth doing in the last patch where they're actually better than the raid weapons. Even then, they're replaced within two months by the next expansion. People enjoy progressing their character and want to gear alt jobs for the fun of it without having to wait 4-6 months.
Then we have this. I'm currently BiS on Warrior. I literally can't join any static looking for DPS for the upcoming Ultimate. It will simply take too long for me to get enough gear since I've already committed to healers as a secondary. So I either don't play healers or I don't play DPS for most of this tier. I can't do both unless I make a separate character.

Who is skipping mechanics before they clear their first time? For example, with "Skip Soar" - these were people that already cleared it. Hence my point from earlier. You already cleared it. You know the mechanics already.
The way I see it...
Either "git gud" (I hate that term) and learn to clear it with the entry-level gear plus minimal upgrades....
... or wait 10 weeks and buy your tomestone upgrades, savage chest drops, etc and skip mechanics
Either do your time (and gear up over time) or play better.
However, I still think that if you clear it once, you are good. Wait for the next tier and then you can just buy superior gear off the MB.

That's just your opinion, man.Who is skipping mechanics before they clear their first time? For example, with "Skip Soar" - these were people that already cleared it. Hence my point from earlier. You already cleared it. You know the mechanics already.

Cachexia 2 was skippable week one while War's Harvest is skippable by week 3 onward.
Now do I expect that in PF? Absolutely not. Nevertheless, the higher your overall DPS is, the higher your chances are for salvaging a run even if people die. Should they know the mechanic? Yes. Unfortunately, we rarely have the luxury of consistency in PF. There's a reason people locked out jobs in the early weeks of prog. Dark Knight simply gave you more wiggle room due to its monstrously higher damage in comparison to Warrior and Paladin.
As for "gitting gud." My dude, I was on P8Sp2 week one. This isn't a question of "gitting gud" but wanting to play through the fights again without having i610 crafted gear. As for why? Well, because it's fun? I couldn't understand for the life of me why people spam dungeons 100 times with their FC mates. I find dungeons painfully boring. That's me though. If they're having fun, more power to them. I wish I could feel the same. Meanwhile, those same players may feel incredibly stressed in Savage whereas I love the challenge.
I also like helping groups get their first clears or reclears going. Not to mention Ultimate. And then of course there's a website many of us enjoy ranking on.
There's a lot of reasons to keep doing Savage if you're so inclined. I wouldn't keep my sub if I only cleared once or twice.
