The Quest for the Peregrine Helm Challenge?

Well it's been awhile since I posted on here. But since coming back to the game I find that I want to acquire the one Onion Helm I do not possess. The Peregrine Helm. Now I know it's a 1.0 item, but in my research I've found that it might be possible to get from Quick Ventures, with one (unverified) individual claiming to have gotten last year. So I'm gonna lay out my plan, and I'd like to get others input on other possible routes.

Now keeping things as simple as possible I'm going to make an small army of alts. Each alt will have to do the MSQ up to the point of joining a Grand Company (obviously so I can get Ventures).

So here's the first problem. The retainers can only level up to your level in that job. Since I don't want to do the MSQ beyond this point it makes options difficult. Thus ALL of the retainers will be fishing (please if someone has a better idea tell me ;^; ). And Ocean Fishing will be the primary way of leveling fishing. This should allow me to get lvl 90 fishing. Obviously after this point I'll have crafting on each character as well, which will mainly level by doing daily GC turn-ins, this is to keep the ventures rolling in.

So this means depending on how long it takes I'll have 40 character, across 8 worlds and between 80-400 retainers (if I'm willing to pay the extra fee for the additional retainers).

Am I just being a crazy person with this plan?
