Given how stretchy some materials are, au ra might not need as many adjustments as expected at first glance, at least for the ladies.
Tails would just be designed like miqo ones but slightly larger

either way an au ra with larger horns would likely have to put one horn through first, then their head, then the other horn

Also given au ra clothing tends to be loose so it can be torn to look rugged and tough (according to encyclopedia eorzea on the auri outfit) i imagine its stretchier or looser than regular outfits

Given the sheer size/shape differences, it would probably be pretty common for au ra to get one size up than what they would wear to fit better. Especially in teenage years given the height and thickness difference between child auri and adults

Just don't start wondering how they sleep. You'll go insane.

Already did that years ago. Wondered how they sleep that is. It's one of the things you shouldn't try to think about too deeply cause trying to rationalize that or how some of the clothes would actually have to be in order for some of the races to wear them will as you said make you go bonkers.

Oh, please. Sanity is overrated anyway. Or did you think prolific scholars like Y'shtola and Urianger were sane.

Oh, you poor, deluded Sun Seeker child.

Trying to figure out how their scales don't tear their clothing.

Could be wrong but I want to say their scales are supposed to be soft.

I recall word of god claiming that their scales/horns were flexible and thus probably more of a leathery texture/consistency like gator skin, which would be a lot more practical to live with.

Unfortunately for fans of realism, it seems that concept artists don't care about stuff like this when designing things.

Biologically, ears on the top of your head like a Viera don't make sense either because of how far they are from the brain steam. It only looks that way for rabbits and other mammals because of the way their skulls are shaped. Viera are designed that way because they were originally a fantasy race in a side game that was also the sole female representation (minus the main villain and another human from St. Ivalice) so they had to be skimpy and fanservicey, so bunny girls.

Looking at older Au Ra concept art where they have both ears and horns and the fact they were first introduced as mountain-dwelling warriors of Doma like oni makes me personally believe that they were meant to have normal ears but the people responsible for translating concept art to game models and/or the equipment modellers couldn't work around a race that had horns sticking out of the tops of their heads with the hats and helmets in the game (this was pre-Viera/Hrothgar) so they were like "oh, they have ear horns now".

I think the horns at least are hard and inflexible. They're described as being hollow and sounds vibrating inside of them is what allows them to hear so something like that would make more sense being solid. Especially since some Au Ra faces have the option to have metal fittings around and on them.

A better question would be: How they are able to sleep?
