So, after skimming through this thread I can say that the majority of replies missed the point completely. I am not arguing that comedy and lightheartedness in beast tribe quests is inherently a bad thing, but I am arguing it is bad in this particular one. The topics they are dealing with are heavy and serious, those are life-long conflicts that those people had to deal with. Instead of actually insightful portrayal and something that will flesh out those races and make them more interesting, it is more strawmaning and dumb bunnies being shoved in your face. Vidofnir doesn’t seem to make a distinction between Dynamis constructs and real dragons and treats them as real, so I assume those are an indication enough that those phantom creations can be seen as their accurate representations.

This entire questline is a waste, and this moment is a perfect example.

We have too much comedy in this Expansion. We have entire segments of MSQ both on the moon and Sharlayan dedicated to comedy with loporrats, they are also seen in Garlemald where they ruin any seriousness and urgency with their presence, made even worse by the utter lack of stakes in the story We have a new season of Hildibrand, and the relic storyline is also comedy orientated. The first beast tribe with Matanga is also light hearted and comedy-oriented, the supposed bunny beast tribe will be the same thing no doubt. With all this in mind, they could allow this questline to be on the serious side which focuses on the people of Ultima Thule and unstrawmaning them without loporrat presence. I understand that(according to YouTube) many people have an urge to wheeze and roll on the floor after hearing something as hilarious as “puddingway” or “carrot of happiness”, but they have plenty of opportunities for that already. There was no need to add this infestation into Omicron tribe.

I have to agree with you on this one. EW's story is supposed to be about marking hard decisions and learning to move on; it's not supposed to be funny, which the Omicron tribe quests seem to miss. It's not that humor or lightheartedness is a bad thing, far from it - it just feels like it's moving a bit too quickly in terms of heaviness vs. humor. The situation of the Omicrons and the Dragons is a good example; it's quite nice that the Dragons are able to make peace with their former foes, but... doing it over the course of a single quest, by baking a cake, after the Omicrons literally destroyed not only the Dragonstar but countless other worlds? Yeah, it really does feel a bit childish, in a way; I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Endwalker and I feel that the Omicrons being able to redeem themselves is an interesting plotline, but it feels just a bit too rushed and "out-there" compared to the expansion's theme of loss and despair.

Endwalker's story line has ended. We're now 2 patches and ten months past that point. The story line in question is not even part of the MSQ. It is, however, probably the only 'resolution' we will ever get about the echoes that still exist in Ultima Thule. The alternative is an eternity of ... blech.

This expansion's theme, by the way, was Hope -- that thing that was at the bottom of the pithos that Pandora opened. The Greek word in the mythos is 'Elpis'.

That's very much true; I just think that the Beast Tribe questline is moving just slightly too quickly concerning the Omicrons' history and such. Granted, that's just me and my fondness of having everything developed as much as possible talking - I admit, I get very invested in FFXIV's stories in general - but I do think the quests should have been either longer, or spread out over multiple quests and such. Give a bit more time for character and lore development and such.

That said, I'm still Ok with what we got; I do feel that they could be better, but I'm not gonna cry over spilled milk.
