I'm thoroughly convinced that there are actually two versions of FFXIV and different people are playing different versions of it with a completely different story.

Looking at how casually you dismiss what aveyond said and remembering how you jumped to complaining when others said much benign stuff (talk about hypocrisy, huh) I am pretty convinced the problem is not the game, you really just see what you want to see, reality be damned.

I'd hardly call accusations of being a Russian sympathizer 'benign'. Yes, it's true that Aveyond hasn't been a perfect boy scout, but calling someone a Russian sympathizer is a lot worse than anything Aveyond has said, so where's the widespread outrage over that? I don't see why I should condemn Aveyond for a twig in his eye when no one else is willing to condemn one of their own for a plank. If you want to condemn Aveyond, let's condemn everyone who deserves it too, not just the ones we don't like.

However, I don't think most people will. That would require them to admit their own faults and that they might deserve the same wrath they previously gave Aveyond. And don't take this as me saying that I don't have faults. I do. I just don't make a habit of condemning myself when others won't do the same. You guys make the standard, I just use it, and call you out when you break it.

Oh, the Russian thing. Is that Russian in his sig? I ask, I do not know cyrillic. He seems to like some Russian things, like names and stuff, might even be Russian himself for all I know, it's not like he denied it. And if he is that's ok.
What he thinks of the current regime I do not know, but in games he clearly has a preference for non-democratic regimes, so there's that.

I would not call him a Russian sympathizer tho, that has no relevance to FFXIV. But what you graciously ignore is that the message calling him that came after his speculations on other peoples lives. And no, I do not consider telling people they do not act like normal humans such a small thing. I tend to believe you wouldn't also, if it came from another poster, maybe one from "the other side".

I'm not ignoring it, I just don't find it necessary to dogpile Aveyond when there's worse posts in the thread that deserve it more (assuming we were going to dogpile someone), even if said posts came afterwards. Like I said, I'm not going to condemn the twig in his eye when his critics are ignoring the planks in theirs. I don't care whether or not Aveyond started it, he's not the one who went the furthest.

As someone who is neurodivergent and hears that often both on the internet and in real life (I don't bring it up most of the time as it's usually not relevant), it's really not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, regardless of whether I personally like the person saying it or not. And if anyone would get offended over a statement like that, it would be someone like me as I'd actually have something to be offended over.

This. ^ I was only doing what he was, returning the favor, taking what he posts about and forming my own assumption of him like what he has done so many times to other people's posts. Two people's posts even got deleted because his post provoked such a strong reaction and were obviously hurt by it that they couldn't even ignore or control their emotions to it. Like you said, that isn't a small thing.

All I see from this post is, "I'm autistic, therefore what others consider 'bad' doesn't fit what I think is bad even though other posts have said otherwise." I absolutely hate it when people try to use their disability to "justify" their behavior.

Guess what? I'm disabled too. And I know what it's like to be called not "a normal human being" because of it. You don't get to decide that it isn't "bad" based on your standards, that's called minimizing someone's experiences, which I am pretty sure as a disabled person, you would know what that feels like. It's basically labeling others as second class citizens. Ableism. Whatever you want to call it, and it is far worst than what I have said. All I said is, if the shoe fits, he should wear it and he has not even denied it.

Christ. I don’t have the patience to deal with what I can only assume are 12 year olds who are too eager to try and one up each other on the victim scale after being called out for behaving in a way that is neither becoming of standard social norms nor does it afford any respect any to these relatives who may or may not be dead. Now they’re finding it trendy to pretend as if they’ve been “dehumanized.” Enough.

I could just as easily reveal my HIV status in attempt to clap back at these individuals who don’t know the first thing about being “dehumanized” but I will refrain from doing so.

This community has a bad enough issue when it comes to emotional manipulation and the childish way this expansion has gone about these heavier topics has only enabled them further, I fear. If nothing else it’s a point of reflection for those of us who are fond of writing to avoid the mistakes that Endwalker made, and is still making for the Omicron quests judging off the script that is available for everyone to read.

I'm guessing it's because it allows them to demerit what you say and thus instantly win the argument. Surely Aveyond can't have a point if he's calling us 'less than humans' right? Victimhood is the Exodia of debate.

I've yet to see evidence of you saying that they're less than human. Now if you actually did, that's pretty bad, but it really just seems like people took what you said and stretched it thin until it was warped into something it wasn't.

Me doubting their stories and being taken aback by how EW somehow resonated with them while being quite insulting to grief from my perspective, given what I’ve seen this of community isn’t the same thing as being “dehumanized” or viewed as lesser. I consider this behavior abnormal because this sort of stuff shouldn’t have been brought up by these posters in the first place. It’s disrespectful, and as I said earlier I have 0 tolerance for it.
