That's one reason I do worry about the CBU 3. Those guys are spread out between XIV and XVI. SE is placing a lot on there plate with there recent track record of games. This is kinda high stakes for them.pretty much this, they were on full damage control during those few years after 2.0 launch even when HW launched so they had to probably overwork themselves to the bone. Now that they've found their audience they're able to relax a bit and it clearly shows from their work schedule and how much Yoshida wants to prevent the team from burnout. The worst that can happen to them is getting so burnout that they lose the motivation to continue working on FFXIV. Anybody in the industry can tell you how easy it is to fall into that trap

If the 16 trailer is anything to go by, they will do fine.
Have a little faith.

...aaand of course the idea that they can have separate teams never occurred to you?All those trailers tell me is that they are siphoning resources off 14 for 16, and boy does it show.
That comes down to trust, which they have as far as I am concerned. With all this expectation on there shoulders its easy to buckle under the pressure no matter how well your product is in the end.
Patience.

Just to chime in on this but per https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/1285...al-fantasy-xvi
you will have 6 of the main people that worked on 14 working on 16
for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

Which could be a reason that Endwalker has largely been sub-par in multiple areas.Just to chime in on this but per https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/1285...al-fantasy-xvi
you will have 6 of the main people that worked on 14 working on 16
The possibility exists that:
They are focusing their attention on the new game and FFXIV isn't getting the attention it needs.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I'm not worried about a game. I'm worried about the people creating the game. They've been boots on the ground since at least 2016 while making going on 4 expansions for this game. With all this expectation on there shoulders its easy to buckle under the pressure no matter how well your product is in the end.
What the recent FFXVI trailer is saying to me is that SE is pushing towards FF games being an Action RPG going forward. If that's the case I hope they stick with the more old school JRPG style of gameplay with the Dragon Quest series. Though I feel like it's overdue for the FF mainline series to have another FFIX-ish entry that feels more like a fantasy setting with cartoonish visuals. (Though if I were making such a game I'd probably also give it the most twisted/darkest story of any title in the franchise to date to pair with the cute and cartoonish visuals...)
