But you already paid for that content. Each expansion costs $40 and has as much content as you'd expect from a $40 game towards the end of its cycle. If you were a long-time subscriber, you paid $40 several times over just from buying those expansions. What's the sub fee for? Servers? That comes with the territory of having an online game. You don't need to pay a subscription for many other online games. Patches? What exactly are we getting from patches that can't come from the purchase price? Each expansion has a low amount of multiplayer content on release, and the devs trickle out the rest over time.

If they want FFXIV to become like all the other numbered Final Fantasies, they need to look at how they work. You do not need to pay a sub fee for FFXV, you pay for the game and its DLC. I assume that FFXVI will be the same way.

They dont need to look at anything more then they are, FFXIV is not a SIngle Player Game, its an MMO, and it functions as one. It just has More ways to play it then being forced to play it like other games such as WoW.

And....Im sorry but comparing FFXIV to games like FFXV and FFXVI isnt a good argument. Because those are purely Single Player Game Experiences.
FFXIV is not. You have the ability to play it with Bots, but that doesnt make it a Single Player Game.

Let's not get crazy here XD. We pay $60 per expansion, + a subscription per month, + we have a mogstation. We are paying plenty.

Endwalker had maybe five hours of actual gameplay, the rest being text boxes, cutscenes, and walking to the next NPC. We are vastly overpaying if our $53 (expansion plus one month subscription) is to be judged on release-date content alone when a 100-hour all-inclusive JRPG costs the same.

All of this is nonsensical fearmongering.

If Criterion dropped raid equivalent gear, it would either have the same exact stats if they didn't want to add new pieces or be an entirely minor DPS increase literally nobody will give a damn about. People do "barse" parties without even full BiS yet. Saying the raid community will make it mandatory you have say, that one extra healer ring from Criterion de to the tome ring being awful is ridiculous. All Criterion would accomplish is giving people more avenues to gear alt jobs.

Look to WoW as an example of what a raiding community will do when there's content that offers a chance at any sort of power gain - it gets turned into a mandatory commitment.

You're also making an assumption that the gear would have the exact same stats. What if it didn't? What if some jobs ended up with new BiS items coming from Criterion? Players already give a damn about minor DPS increases, that's what the entire BiS chase is about. If they didn't, no one would care about having BiS.

Sound like you arnt doing anything more then just blitzing the MSQ story, when there is more to do then just that. So that means you are playing it like a Single Player Game, or all you care about is the MSQ. Thats no fault of the game, its how you are playing it. But if all you like and care about is MSQ thats fine, but its false to say there is only 5 hours of gameplay.

Sounds like you have the same issue of only doing 1 thing in the game, if you believe there is only 5 hours of Content.

Isn't the normal answer to "There's not enough content" + "I don't want to pay a monthly sub" = "Quitting until content you're interested in comes up"?

If the game wasn't doing well, they wouldn't have a monthly sub. Considering it's what's keeping the creaky ship that is Square Enix afloat, it's not going to go anywhere because you yourself are upset about the game.


To quote someone else in another thread replying to you saying that SE needs to listen to you, specifically and that you were going to save the game:

They're not concerned about retaining any single player over any other single player. It's rather arrogant and self-centered of you to think you have such significance.

SE can't implement all of the several million ideas that a couple of million active players are going to have. The vast majority are going to end up disappointed as their feedback gains no direct response and no implementation.

Quite honestly, if you're that unhappy with the game I can't understand why you bother to log in to do a couple of leves then log out. It's a tiny amount of gil that isn't going to do you any good as you play your other games and won't amount to anything helpful if you decide to return when 7.0 is released.

When you're getting too unhappy with a game, the best thing to do is walk away. That's what I did with WoW when I got fed up with all the changes there. The game it became was not the game I used to enjoy. There's no point wasting money on something you don't enjoy thinking that somehow that's going to make it better. Make a clean break, give it several months, then decide if it's worth giving the game another try.
