Doesnt mean the game is low quality either. At worst xiv could use some changes. Also according to OP xiv is no longer top mmo.

Because of the fact all the "top" mmo's dont report numbers anymore (for obvious reasons), it's a bit hard to guess which MMO is the most popular, WoW is picking up as Dragonflight is coming soon, which may or not make an impact on FFXIV sub numbers, but doubt it considering the changes that are happening to the game, a lot of them being in a terrible direction, in particular in regard to m+ and flying.

However from my own perspective which is not proven at all by any metrics, yes FFXIV and WoW are still the top tier MMO's, I would assume followed by Lost Ark, but once again this is just another wild guess as none of them report sub numbers.

Also one of FFXIV's biggest selling point is its story, the problem is that once the story is done for the time being, there really isnt that much to do, and the time between major patches is really not that short, so people do end up getting bored and leaving to play other games, coming back for a few days or weeks at most for the next tier and so on.

It's easy to say "Yeah the game is made so people can leave and then come back and then leave again", but at the same time put a system like auto demolition that forces people to keep logging in the game at the risk of losing your house.

Auto demo doesn't force you to do anything. That is purely a personal problem that people pin on the devs. Ik this take will make you call me a white knight again but that how i see it. If I decided to dip n lose my house ill blame myself n myself only. I understand housing is sparse and it been laid out as such. Iirc that doesn't even effect everyone as not everyone owns a home.

The word "force" doesn't apply as you have the freedom of choice. And always will

The blame is not on the players, the blame is on this archaic housing system, it needs more wards and instanced housing for those that dont care about having neighbors.

We can talk about what it needs forever.
Until that is done the importance you put on a house is 100% on you. Take some responsibility for your actions n what you deem worth or worthy. Landlord doesn't force you to pay bills. He says you either pay or leave. The choice is yours
