So you hate Bozja because it's grindy and extremely unfriendly... despite being the most friendly version of Eureka possible? When everything you need is told to you? Where you don't need to level up, just rank up? Where Rank really just tells you that you can progress through the story and has zero bearing on whether you live or die to the mobs you face? Where you don't need to be careful because massive dragons are at chokepoints and bar you from passing to major areas? Despite the fact that grinding is what this game relies on the most? And you really do think that it was "wasted resources" when it expanded on a recently-added race? What, only Miqo'te and Au Ra get to have their races' lore explored? Didn't know, sorry.
Your post had such an unfair assessment. "Extremely unfriendly" to whom? To the people who skipped their explanations and clicked "I understand what I must do" without reading and then regretted it? Or the people who did that without actually understanding it? I'm not saying there weren't unfriendly moments, but calling it extremely unfriendly is such a stretch it became spaghetti. Every piece of content can have unfair stuff, POTD has unfair challenges, especially in Deep Dives. Keep in mind, you're free to have your own opinion, but if you're going to try and back it up with "facts", at least be real about them.
You don't want to play FF12, that's fine. The expression "Final Fantasy Bozja" is just you showing your clear bias toward Bozja, which again, is incredibly unfair. Bozja's a part of Final Fantasy XIV as much as Lyhe Ghiah is. It's a part of the Final Fantasy franchise as much as the Tidus laugh and the Nibelheim Incident are. But keep in mind that it was Yasumi Matsuno who influenced the dev team to make FF14 the way they did? That Yoshida says that the initial runs of FF14 at least were inspired on the tone of Game of Thrones? Also what is this ridiculous "maybe I'm the only one who struggled through life" thing, do you honestly think you're that special and that only you matter? Things happen. And unfortunately what it sounds like is that you picked up a game which exhibited that sort of tone and inspiration, at least in its initial portions, and now are complaining that they exist when you could have just admitted to yourself "yeah nah, this is fun but the tone isn't for me" and called it a day. Sorry Arrow, that's YOUR personal problem, not the game's. You should have thought of that when you decided to continue. Great that the story after a while (~Stormblood) stops, but they are still going to fall back on that tone sometimes because it's what's been established.
It's not "a worship of evil". Have you ever asked people WHY they enjoy it to know with that much certainty? It's simply a different tone than the weird bubblegum disney product you apparently are craving for. If this community cared so much about the evil bit and glorified it, we wouldn't feel happy that the evildoers get punished. Nor would we feel unhappy when they don't. You clearly didn't pay attention to Bozja, then. Because one thing nobody liked was that guys like Sicinius get to live after what's revealed about him. Get over yourself if you're going to pass down judgment on it, please? One thing is you disliking content, which IS FINE, everyone here hates one content or other that someone else enjoys. But don't be this unfair to it, and don't act like you didn't have multiple chances to back off from the game when you saw the sort of tone they were establishing as early as ARR.
"I have this forum, so I'll fight for more restrained content every day. This is meant to be a sanctuary away from the pains of real life, not pile in the ground for my nose to be rubbed in it."
You're not our nanny. And no, at no point did they tell you this HAD to be a sanctuary from the pains of real life, otherwise they wouldn't have made ARR with that tone to begin with. Only someone who sees themself on one hell of a moral pedestal would say drivel like that.
Sure, have the restrained content you want, by all means, and keep in mind that the devs have since dialed the explicit suffering way down. That's a good thing. But don't act like media must be the escapist fantasy of sunshine and rainbows YOU want them to be. And don't act like you need to stick and fight against a game that does it. You don't own it.
