I mean I think there is a fair point here, this is a joke of a step to keep people around much like the first ShB step was. I had wanted an ARR/HW like first step and this ain't it.
Nobody wanted that. That's why they didn't start playing until more recently. Even some people from back then didn't care for it. Things have been getting more casual and tolerable with each expansion. As they keep repeating this process and add more jobs to the mix, it should get simpler.
But if you had the first Heavensward step, wouldn't you also be complaining that all you did was farm a couple fates in EW areas?
Or, ya know, we're at work. I rarely if ever post on the forums in the evening once I'm home. Its just a time killer for me at work when I need a break from staring at network logs all day.
Pointing out his lunacy isn't crying lol. Most of his "haters" are just outright making fun of him.
Its 4 months between every MAJOR patch. The game gets content updates every few weeks between minor patches...Its like you all forget the patches that occur in between or something lol.Aveyond is correct and I agree with him, people resort to derisiveness because they disagree with somebody instead of demonstrating that good ole' "Great Community" is actually a thing. 4 months between patches is ridiculously long in my opinion, and it isn't some form of blasphemy to point that out. Reminder, XI gets monthly updates :^)

Hate is such a strong word, too. This person and their takes aren't all that special. Anyone at all could come spill some nonsense about a .x5 patch and it's gonna get a response. It's generally the same kind of content being released as well. It's not main story. That was already done in .x
As I alluded to before, the holidays are coming up, so it's usually a time for people to take time away from these games anyway. There's going to be less pressure to grind out whatever is released.
I came here for to scan other people's commentaryThe ridiculous expectations are one of the more entertaining parts of this forum.

Atma/crystal farming when it was new was punishment, not content. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who thinks that fate farming for rare drops before the nerf was fun. Or filling out books or light farming after that.
There wasn’t much of a real story either, just “repeat all of this old content to fill out the overworld and have a reason for seasoned players to join queues for old dungeons”. Relic back then was just a mindless grind with nothing else substantial around it.
I love Fate farms, I did every zone unlock for the shop unlocks and am working towards the Bi-color gemstone rewards. I doubt they would even do EW as that would be far too rewarding for people like me to get Bi-color gemstones alongside it. I would love an SB fate farm step.

Tell me you haven't played during ARR or HW without telling me you haven't played during ARR or HW.jokes on you guys because the first step has always been this easy:
Do the chimera
- ARR:
Do a few dungeons
Slay so mobs
Do a few trials
spend 15 poetics
About 12 fates, 6 if you are very lucky.
- Heavensward
OR turn your Zodiac weapon if you are some kind of maniac
They actually gave the first step in the job quest, so it's basically free, just level your job
- Stormblood
a bunch of quests introducing Bozja + 1000 poetics (which is kinda like ARR if you think about it but it's not locking you in specific content).
- Shadowbringer
you don't even have to enter bozja to get it anyway.
so yea guys, first step of relic always been easy.
ARR: Keep in mind that this is entirely based on pre-2.1 experiences, it obviously got easier with the later patches.
- Chimera: Players felt the need to cheese the fight by pulling him out of the cave, because fighting him on a sloped area was rumoured to stop Dragon's Voice from hitting players.
- Amdapor Keep: Some parties actually had issues with the dps check on Demon Wall.
- Hydra: Tanks could die to Triumvirate, because it initially had to be shared between tanks. Fear Itself could become an issue if players decided to drop fire/ice puddles in the center. Adds could sometimes be an issue if they lived long enough to buff the boss.
- Ifrit HM: Groups at the time often wanted a caster LB2 or 3 for the nails.
- Garuda HM: You couldn't actually dps through the Suparna/Chirada buffs, and they had to be tanked away from Garuda.
- Titan HM: The fact that groups could make a decent amount of gil for boosting people through this fight should tell you enough about how tough this fight was for the average player at the time. And that's without mentioning the netcode issues.
HW: 12 fates? 6 if you are lucky? You needed 3 of each crystal back then. That's 18 in total. With a 10-20% drop rate.
SB: I'll give you this one. I forgot about the Antiquated version technically being considered the first step.
ShB: You obviously didn't need to enter Bozja to obtain the first Resistance weapon. The zone wasn't added until the 2nd step. The very first one was also free after doing the easy solo duty.
This makes it pretty clear that the initial two were nowhere near being "just as easy" as the more recent relic weapons.
