Look no further than Island Sanctuary. The devs specifically said "you're not meant to blitz through this, take it slow". What did people do? They blitzed. Then they pikachu-faced that they don't have much to do.

The only thing I dislike at the moment is that IS feels too slow and that the overall rewards are kind of "eh"? Otherwise I'm just going in there when I feel like it, there's cooler stuff in the game to explore. *cough* like Housing *cough*

Alternatively, I will ask if there is any form of longevity in content. And by this I don't mean "within FF14 itself", but rather in MMOs in general. Is it possible to have content in an MMO that's relevant for an entire patch even beyond reaching the primary goal? Where there's more to it than just farming it for currency that gives X rewards? Because the moment you stop caring about those rewards, it stops having longevity, no?

This is spot on. The moment you get your reward, the content start to lose it's interests. The difference here is that some other MMO waste your time for weeks grinding for the reward.

They don't necessarily have better content, they just make you suffer longer to get what you want.

If Island Sanctuary was following the pattern of these MMO, they would have just have halved the XP earned and increase the ressources necessary to upgrade your island. Then it would have lasted you double the time, but it would be a miserable grind.

Know what...question.
What do you do in FFXIV? Are all you doing is MSQ? Or do you actually engage in its other content?
If you dont enjoy the content that is one thing, but to say there is not enough to justify the price sounds...off. How do I: who has been playing 8-9 years STILL have plenty of stuff to do, but you sound like you dont have anything/enough to do?

I mean, I enjoy this game well enough that I play with alt characters and I've been busying myself leveling them up and progressing through the game. This on top of keeping up with my main keeps me happy to stay subscribed.

Not everyone is like this, but it feels weird that people complain that they're feeling like current content isn't enough to keep them subbed.

Buddy if you are already feeling that, that means you're not entirely enjoying the game anymore. It's seriously ok to unsubscribe and leave for other games. Stop trying to justify your own subscription, it shouldn't be this complicated.

Let me add one thing SE does that WoW lacks as well content wise. FF14 does not discard their old content. They still value it, they still send you there from time to time, they still support people doing that content. WoW does none of these things, so the world feels soulless and empty by now.

FFXIV is an RPG with an MMO tacked on to it. WoW has been reduced to an engagement trap and a part-time job where you pay instead of getting paid. I super love that I can walk away from FFXIV for months or even years at a time and then come back to it when I'm in the mood. I love being able to play other games instead of having to become completely entrenched in FFXIV.

Pretty much a solid take as far as I am concerned.

I can just agree with you all and i share the point that it felt like we were just given bones instead of meat but it's just that it always boils down with... i know i am spoiled with getting a whole table filled with treats in other mmorpgs in the past so i have started to download other games to have on the side when things get's a bit grey in ffvix. I won't burn myself out with going with " oh i am going to level up the rest of the jobs/alts just to have something to do" if i do that it won't take long before i uninstall.
FFVIX reminded me how it feels like to have a home again, haven't felt like this in a long time so i can understand why SE is rather chill , burning yourself out in pursuit for entertainment and happiness is just wrong.

People complained endlessly about Bozja and Eureka (Eureka, imo, was baller content with a fantastic payoff for grinding) and here we are. A couple tomes here and there and now we have weappons. Anyone's guess if we're even going to be grinding level 90 dungeons and fates for the rest of it, like how Bozja had people grinding HW content for whatever goddamn reason if they really disliked Bozja.

I dont admit to anything, other than my own opinion, then again my opinion is based on a vast well of experience, coming as it does from decades of gaming with lemme see here..AppleIIE, Sega Genesis, Atari, Gameboy, Amiga.....an entire slew of PC games going back PRE DOS 6.22, in that time I have seen and evaluated various companies on a variety of issues and facets, support, correspondence, responses, content, writing, music, graphics...SE is one of a handful I have considered well above average to above excellent.

( I met and spoke to Al Lowe once, guy was funny and a gentleman to boot. Man is a legend. )

Blizzard once held that spot, until they proved themselves utterly incompetent beyond even my capacity to forgive.

Stating that I personally am very happy with them, the game, with their efforts, the story and the way it was presented, is no more than the truth. in my estimation they have exceeded..AND DELIVERED what they said they would.

Isahikawa Natsuko-san has proven herself a peerless writer, despite some flaws here and there ( which are in every game, so whats new... ), as far as I am concerned, I trust them, I have faith in their teams and in future content, in a game I am happy to pay for.

Customer satisfaction and retention go hand in hand.

Lastly, I include you in that earlier comment that no matter what they do, no matter how hard they try, you are the type that will always find SOMETHING to complain about. It gets a little wearing, TBH.

The rest is a YOU problem, one that I am certain is not shared by a lot of people who arent here, never will be here, who are ingame and having fun.

Lesson number one not learned is ilvl 615 savage pf, are troll signaling of discord streamer hangers stupid rmt shitposters of "reclears" and now, even training pf's leading nowhere on any and every mech failed on purpose, trying to create "content" and Drama by shittying up purposefully the party finder. You can easily find all these names jumping from NA servers to EU servers to harass repeatedly the pfinder (they have a gripe with eu servers / shiddy it up for a long time now) with, of course, same old same ilvl615 groups, (when you see ilvl 615 groups it's very often their "mark" and 99% of the time, entering theses, you'll find out trolls destroy the simplest mechs or don't allow you to pass it) reset day, to reset day "stuck" on the same raids, until they clear a few hours before reset (sapha kotye is one exemple of that, reaching P8S P2 in one shot, then leave the party right away after first pull of p2, and yes that player is present in a lot of usual ffxiv streamers backgrounds, and parties, as well as a few others doing this out of their way on EU servers and sometimes NA too.)

Lesson not learned is, a lot of people getting privilege around the streamer industry also work hand in hand with secondary and tertiary advertising and game publishing companies and get many kind of mafia like advantage / side hustles like selling game currency or getting all manners and types of advantages as "part of the job" and of course, won't disclose or acknowledge it, (IRS, come come, i see you, you might be interested in this black market of undisclosed non-declared work) these big privilege then drip down in smaller ones into brackets and fountain like droplets from streamers / first world raiders to friends to a friend to communities of rmt sellers, from streamers but also from "world first" guilds (lesson not learned about the scandals of many previous wow and other first raiding guilds that disbanded for these types of problems and then some) but it's common knowledge in the "backrooms" / discord / and dm talk. Just a bunch of hypocrites that want to preserve the illusion that it isn't real, when they half admit it, they downplay it and censor what they say about it, even on stream, because yeah, it would completely shatter the illusion of a lot of things if players knew how it really works and is, of course.

Actually, these days? WOW is the pvp / m plus / raid meta and they dont actually give a TOSS for anyone else. Their open world content is a sick joke...actually its non existent.
