    Crashes back again

Last time after i upgraded my PC crashes started to appear very often in my game. I did post thread about it ( https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...m-game-crashes ) and was looking for solution everywhere. In the end out of trying out all the painstaking things, game became more or less stable, still few crashes but well, could live with that.

With recent patch crashes back again and more often, but still random. It often happens on island, or when i am standing in almost any place doing nothing. Also happens in raids and trial, much less tho.

Errors are extremely random. It can be one line directx error, it can be ffxiv_dx11 few lines error. It can be nvwgf2umx.dll error. Sometimes it just closes itself.

I'll be honest, i have 0 hope, that ppl here will help me to fix problem. Mostly because at this point i am 98% sure it is problem of how ffxiv coded.

    Now more info about situation.
    Change of hardware:
    CPU: I-7700k changed to Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: Geforce 1060 Ti changed to GeForce RTX 3070 TI
Doubt info about motherboard or RAM needed, but i changed ram from 16 gb to 32 gb. And also it now works with xmp profile of 3000mhz.
Also using hyperx cloud core 7.1 with usb audiocard (these errors might be associated with audio drivers mind you) and 2 displays.

    Things i tried:

    1. Full windows reinstall. Trying out ffxiv on clean PC, with newest Nvidia drivers - Not working.
    2. Used DDU to remove drivers, checked checkbox for blocking windows from autoupdating drivers. Then clean install for drivers - Not working.
3 Updated firmware on motherboard, loaded optimal default, changed power supply from cool and quite to normal - Not working.
4 Removing all audio devices aside from used ones - Not working.
5 Did full test for my Ram modules on memetest86, got no errors. Tried changing slots for them and also test on my old ram modules. - Not working.
6 Changed amount of cores that ffxiv process used - Not working.
7 Overclocking or underclocking GPU - Not working.
8 Disabling hardware virtualization on motherboard - Not working.

It is hard to remember all the things i tried to be fair. Internet is full of suggestions, from very stupid to extremely complicated.
Suffice to say, all overlays disabled. No VPN, no antivirus to meddle in performance. No errors in event log about videodriver crashing or anything.

It some cases these errors saying that you have problems with hardware, for example your GPU is about to die or RAM. But i did tests, RAM has 0 errors. GPU passes all tests without problem. Games much more demanding than ffxiv, work perfectly fine.

This problem persist for years ( looking at forums ) and seems to be shifting around players with each patch. Much more prevalent in EW tho, be it either influx of new players or just overall changes done in EW. These facts lead me to believe that this is 98% problem of ffxiv and not hardware on which it working.

Example of error. But there are more on these forums.

Will add more info, if I remember something or test more things.

From my understanding, that specific crash error box can be a conflict with Nvidia drivers, Nvidia Overlay and/or, Nvidia Shadowplay. Best off making sure you've got Nvidia's Overlay and Shadowplay Disabled. Also, if you are using something like Reshade/Gshade, that is also a possible cause.

Thx for suggestions, i did try all methods on clean client without any overlay. Disabled steam one, no nvidia experience installed as well. I even tried with custom launcher ( just to test things around ) - it still crashed few times, just added special crash from from launcher sometimes, along with all other errors.

Problem still exists, it doesn't seem to be connected to the amount of overlays or drivers. Might be small connection to the amount of alt+tabs you are doing, but can't figure it out. Too Random at this point. I am 99.9% sure it is badly coded game.

Not sure if you fixed this. If you did I would be interested in what you did to compare with what I did. I had similar issues for the last two weeks. I have 32gb of Gskill 4600 RAM in two sticks. What worked for me was disabling Ram XMP in the bios. Boot into windows then disabling windows fast boot in the OS. Restart your computer twice to flush the ram. Then you can turn xmp back on.

This resolved the issue for me. Hope it helps you.
