First, it doesn't matter. The only stat where exact numbers matter is skill/spell speed, and that's already visible via CD reductions.

Second, it's a matter of perception. Stats scale based on level. That's why a level 50 in i130 and a level 80 in i530 have approximately the same crit chance, etc even though the 80's numbers are so much higher. That's great for keeping endgame balanced but it means that as you level your stats actually go down. A level 55 in that same i130 gear has less crit than the level 50. How bad would it feel to get a level up, open your menu, and see the number go down instead of up? Scaling the numbers but keeping them hidden lets them make it look like the numbers are still going up even when they're not. Player perception trumps all in situations like this.
