It's something I'm very particular about, but the Optical Hat from Eureka Pagos is a notoriously hard item to get, and though useful before gaining the elemental gear, is pretty much just a really nice glamour item and fun FFXI reference (of which I wish we had more of, like the Elvaan minion's cotehardie).

There's just one problem— the ear clipping. Hair clipping through headpieces is something I've gotten used to, but seeing my Lalafell's ears clip through the sides of the Optical Hat's flaps for the first time was... exceedingly disappointing, especially since I couldn't preview the item first.

Especially because, as you can see in this picture taken from patch 4.36's notes,

the hat covers this Elezen's ears.

I can't tell if this is simply because said Elezen has the smallest-sized ears possible or not, but frankly I'd be fine if the hat's flaps simply just hid your character's ears in general— but they don't, as you can see with my own character here:

In FFXI proper, these sorts of hats had slits in the flaps that allowed ears to poke out of, as you can see with this Tarutaru:

And while I'm sure it'd be difficult to attain this same effect with how much variation there can be with FFXIV ear lengths and sizes, I'd easily accept my ears being hidden completely if only to avoid them clipping through the fabric— or a hole in the side flaps that's large enough to work with all ear types, if possible.

My point basically is that the Optical Hat is a rather difficult reward to get, so I just believe it'd be great if there could be some sort of compromise for this, as otherwise it looks rather silly to wear when you're an Elezen or Lalafell, and is in my eyes rather disappointing. It's an incredibly minor issue in the grand scale of things I realize, but it's just always bothered me, and thought I'd point it out after having noticed that Elezen picture.
