It serves no purpose and promotes boring, defensive gameplay for the first ~20s of every match - just get rid of it and promote aggressive, action-centric PVP from the start.

All unlocking the Crystal instantly would do is forcing someone to plant on the point as soon as possible, leaving them vulnerable which may be awful if you have noone with decent sustain / mitigation who can do this somewhat safely. On the flipside, this would give jobs with a lot of staying power more value early game
The boring defensive gameplay stems from people building Limit Break for free by letting time pass hiding around a corner. I hardly know any game where their Ultimates operate like this - most of them charge it based on performance and not about 95% based on time being alive.
Currently the only way to hinder said LB generation is by killing a player as soon as possible, something many still don't get used to do. I tend to win games a lot more in which I forced enemies out of position or straight up killed jobs with high-value Limit Breaks early on so they desync.

Deaths before the 30s unlock puts whichever team had more deaths at a disadvantage for the match. Basically, the beginning can have a major impact on the rest of the match.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I'd be much more in favor of deleting the time before a match starts or at least reduce it greatly.
You can't switch classes and it's not like you are going to strategize with random teammates and no chat.

Not wrong, but I suppose its a good time for people to collect their marbles, check who is in enemy team, check if people are loaded in...
...and in the rare case someone (me.) attempts to communicate their gameplan in spawn with Quickchat, sufficient time to do that.
That said, I'd live to at least have a 30 seconds grace period to say things in chat unhindered. Lock it mid match for all I care.
