I'm sure most of us have had many times where we've really liked a particular piece of armor or were excited to check out new unique sets only to see that most long hairstyles clipped right through the back. Personally, I think the clipping can be so bad that you have to choose between swapping hairstyle to something short(er) or completely swear off that piece of armor. Ultimately, I think a 'collar' toggle of sorts would mostly solve the issue.
While it's understandable to find this occasionally, I'd argue you should never encounter this issue with, especially, Artifact Armor, Tome, or Raid sets. Especially Artifact Armor, but each of these sets altogether are always unique and often special additions to the game's glamour options. Never the less, I found the issue occured on 42% of all Artifact, Tome, and Raid gear since ARR to present day.
I use the same hairstyle that Artoirel de Fortemps has, so that was my hairstyle test:
- 32 of all 74 Artifact sets
- 44 of 105 Tome sets
- 41 of 98 Raid sets
In total, 117 of 277 AF/Tome/Raid sets were largely unwearable if you wanted to keep long hairstyles like Artoirel's. And, clearly, the issue continues at about the same rate in crafted and dungeon sets.
In almost all of these sets, the issue comes down to the usage of large/wide collars that hair has to poke straight through. On many, potentially most of these body armors, having a simple toggle to 'turn off' the collar (like a head piece or visor) would clear up the issue immediately.
I imagine it would require a fair bit of work to implement this, let alone update existing sets accordingly. That said, it's getting incredibly frustrating when almost half of all sets in the game essentially require you to change your hairstyle from a basic, starter hairstyle. Why continue to design about 40% of all gearsets in a way that creates the issue in the first place?
