How do you think the new DC community is going to be like?

Does Primal have an identity? I've always felt like it just kind of exists while Aether is the tryhard DC and Crystal has the RP, more social and casual crowd. I haven't been on Primal since HW admittedly.

Primal is a middle ground between RP and raiding imo. You can get content done and enjoy some decent RP afterwards. Hyperion is home to the Lucky 7s which is probably its biggest venue in the entire DC, whenever I've gone it was packed to the brim. Was there for about a year total and is probably my 2nd favorite DC to live in (Aether being first).

I mean, you're gonna run into bad parties regardless of what DC you're on but I didn't really ever run into situations where content couldn't be cleared eventually on Primal. Like in terms of savage I got through P1S-some of P3S there without much pain. People tend to meme Crystal more than Primal now cause of how RP > content there. I think there's been a slight shift in people trying to get more content done but its still very much RP priority.

Really? I am actually expecting a lot of people to move for the housing alone, and the housing lotto to have multiple bids even in the small plots. I think the wards might fill up fairly quickly

Some will move to get the housing they want. Others will stay on their worlds hoping that others with houses will move so they can get what's vacated.

It doesn't matter how much people say they want something, few are willing to make the change needed to acquire it. It's especially true when they already are part of established social circles.

The only reason I'm moving a couple of my alts (not this character or the rest) is to help support my cousin's FC that decided to move since they're still relatively new to the game and don't have any connections in game outside of their inner circle.

Maybe, but I really don't think the housing crowd is as big as the forums makes it out to be.

Based on lottery entry numbers just before the last of the supply disappeared and people gave up the lottery as hopeless, there seemed to be about 1500-2000 players on most of the NA worlds trying to get a house.

I'd also be surprised if more than about 30% of those players moved to the new worlds to get a house. That would make the housing-centric transfers to Dynamis in the 10-12k range, which seems realistic compared to what happened with Materia but still no where close to the 28,800 houses that will be available.

I feel like SE is going to have to step up its game or you're going to have an OCE situation repeating itself

Congested status says "Hello!" All NA worlds should have been marked Congested since last summer but SE couldn't get more worlds added at that time to handle the overflow.

Now players won't have a choice except to create new characters on the new data center if they want to play on NA. That may get other players to transfer there to play with friends who are just picking up the game.

People did that when OCE came out and the place is still dead in comparison to the other DCs. I remember moving there for housing, getting one without any challenge and then leaving anyway because it was boring.

There will definitely be a wave but anyone who has obligations to stay on their original DC still will (friends, FC, roleplay related jobs, etc.). It will most likely just be a bunch of alts as well rather than anyone's main till the state of the DC is known and whether or not it's viable.

"Dead in comparison" doesn't mean "is dead", though I wonder what happened to all the players that the OCE supporters were certain would materialize on Materia (pun not intended).

That's because contrary to what this forum kept saying, the number of OCE players, let alone those who wanted to migrate, was always very small.
There are more English speaking latin american players than there ever were from oceania. This was really just a bad call from Yoshida.

It wasn't the player group here in the forums that convinced SE. It was the Facebook group that OCE players had formed to lobby for the OCE data center. They had said they knew of friends and others that wouldn't play the game because it lacked an OCE data center.

So did those friends and others still not materialize, were they fewer in number than the Facebook group made it seem, or did SE drop the ball on advertising the addition of the OCE data center in the region? if SE didn't bother to do any serious advertising in the region, then that's on SE's marketing team.

I feel like this thread is missing the fact that there are new players joining everyday and NA is the biggest pop DC in the world. New servers mean there's a better chance new players can join and not have an issue with servers being locked to new characters. It's not about migration its about more space for more new people. The issue with OCE is that all the people who were playing were just on JP. And only a few left for OCE meaning all that's there is the small OCE population and its new players.

Did you miss this part of the statement? "However, just to clear up, the forum voice asking for the regional servers was pretty much non-existant."

I am an avid OCE player, and love the DC, it's awesome. Yoshi stated he first saw the need when he came to Australia, so I know there were calls. But this made-up-fact about the forums being full of people begging for it is as false as the made-up-fact that our servers are a ghost town. They aren't, as you and I know.

full of people that really want a house probably? Or feel alienated from their current server for social reasons and want a new start as well I suppose.
