I hadn't heard of that before, but it seems unlikely, or at least not required to create blue water. Water around limestone caves takes on a blue colour from dissolved calcium carbonate (the mineral that creates cave formations) in the water.
Some examples I am aware of that are attributed to entirely natural causes:
Blue Lake in Mt Gambier, South Australia – the description talks about the colour being due to the mineral in the water.
A different Blue Lake at Jenolan Caves, New South Wales – from a river flowing out of the cave system, again (from information I read when I visited the caves) simply attributed to the minerals in the water.
