This thread is living proof that parsing has become a cancer that’s progressively getting worse as the practice becomes more widely accepted. And part of this is the passive-aggressiveness that comes from the community because parsing is banned. Either ban it entirely or accept it officially and let us become competitive like WoW. Having this grey-area cop out isn’t working anymore.

Sadly, I know FFXIV is on the wane and devs don’t want to put too much effort into a title that’s on its way out, but *anything* would be better than this.

Parsing is a wonderful tool in the right hands. This thread has shown, however, that it does end up in the wrong hands. I think when people start saying "Oh yeah? Well, here's your parse for x content!" then they've got nothing else to debate with. They've already lost and don't even realize it. Or they do and they are desperate.

Oh can it with the sob story about the game and parsing, will you? Nobody will play the violin for this, you can curb the drama. The community's always been passive-aggressive, it didn't need parsing to bring it to the limelight. Parsing isn't killing anything. Parsing's always existed, and plenty of people accepted its existence before. It hasn't stopped groups from forming, it hasn't stopped crap from being cleared, it hasn't stopped anything. And just as how it exists, people can use it to be jerks, but they also use it to improve and figure stuff out.

Not to mention it's helped people understand how to balance and minmax things if they so choose. No one, and I mean NO ONE, will give you a hard time as an AST for not giving a card to the DRK on his opener. Because nobody cares. Those who do care do so for a reason, and their immediate thought ISN'T to come after you for being a gray parser. And if they kick you out of PF for it, then find another one because your playstyles don't match. Simple as.

I'm listing exactly whats on the website. Its on you to update it if you think you have a log of good parses. If this game had open parsing they would be looking at the same information I'm looking at and come to the same conclusion.

I'm not missing anything lol. Anyone can see all of your savage parses for P5-P8 because you left your logs public(unless you want me to also list last tier which is actually worse). I don't know why you're trying to deflect so hard here and its ok to admit you were wrong. You were the one pointing out that parsing should be used to judge players and who can be allowed into groups. I called you out on it by using your own logs to prove a point that doing stuff like that is wrong and now you're doing everything you can to deflect it. You lost this fight.

Weren't you the one that kicked off the whole targeting people based on parses thing in this thread? Trying to silence someone based on their numbers in inconsequential content (or in any content, for that matter) is a rather toxic thing to do, whether or not you agree with the point they are making.
